My 70 Dodge Coronet twin turbo project

The exhaust gas has to easily take the route of the waste gate if you want the gates to function properly. The way you have them plumbed currently, the exhaust gas basically has to do a 180 degree turn to get out of the gates. Instead, most of it will rush into the turbine housing, even if the gates are wide open. I had this exact same problem before.

If the turbos are small enough, it will probably be fine. If you have an issue with not being able to turn the boost down enough, you'll have to reposition the gates so that they have more "priority" than they have now.

Love this project, would like to check it out in person.

That was my main concern, the exhaust actually getting to the wastegates, but I figured the exhaust gas will find the path of least resistance. I don't know how much energy it takes to spin those turbines vs. making that sharp turn. We'll find out soon enough (hopefully!)

Thanks for the input.

This is a way cool project ! nice work and as you said you have learned alot and you probably will learn even more when tuning the package .

It runs!!!!

Got it fired up Sunday and broke in the cam. It's a lot louder than I hoped. I ran full exh. to the bumper with mufflers. I put a Jegs brand dual exh kit on it, all mandrel bent with the turbo mufflers that came in the kit. I'll probably be changing them out for something else. It's not obnoxious, just louder than I thought it would be. I guess thats ok though, because that Areomotive fuel pump is LOUD AS HELL. It's louder than the exhaust. So if I change the mufflers I gotta listen to that. Anyway, once I get my cold side pipes back and convert the carb to blow through I'll be stylin'.

That is an understatement. That thing is way loud!

Is it a a1000? The two I've had no matter how I mounted the dang things were soo flipping loud it drove me nutz..
Pretty sure it is an a2000.
John fired it up with me sitting on the outside of the car last night and that is all I heard.
I would not be able to stand that being a street car! Race car who cares.

was the pump running alone for about 10 min?? if so i could hear it from my house
Not when I was there.
He fired it twice but was no more than a minute each time.

I would not doubt you could hear it at your house though! It is that loud.

So we gonna line em up today?

Can't. Have no idea where the tune is, and I need a better ignition box with boost retard. Mopars like timing, and I can't run it too retarded or it'll run hot under normal driving. That, and all my cold side tubing is back off so could paint it. I found a pretty cool color at the paint store that was mixed wrong so I got it real cheap. It's like a pewter with a lot of metallic. Looks cool as hell in the sun. Too bad it's all going under the hood....... Gonna go put that back together right now.

Everything's back together. Just gotta tune it now and change the ignition. Woo-hoo!!!!! Haven't really driven it much, just around the block a couple times.

Making some changes. I never liked the waste gate location, so I got some new smaller ones, and I'm adding power steering, which entails me redoing the entire left side of the system. I'm also doing a bunch of suspension upgrades, bigger brakes front and rear, sway bars, fatter torsion bars, but that's gonna wait until after under the hood is done, (or really close, don't want too many irons in the fire)

Here's the pile of parts

I had to move the turbo over a little bit, here's the new downpipe.

I got the right side wastegate mounted where I want, but I forgot to take some pics. Not going back out tonight
