I plan on converting my car over to manual brakes (power brakes never really worked right) and I've looked on a few sites at different kits to do it dose anyone on here have a specific one that works best? If there any specs on the car that should be taken into consideration before buying lmk thanks in advance guys.Ryan

its a 79 with all origanal master cylinder, booster and calipers everything was old and worn. that plus the cam i ran vacum wasnt the greatest at idle.

aye i don't know your set up but does your car have a brake booster run off manifold vacuum? If so what was your manifold vacuum at idle at ?

ahh posted this before your statement above, Yep on my old charger had this problem had to buy a [h=1]SSBC Electric Vacuum Pump Kit 28146[/h]

The car is in project mode it I'm going to a completely new setup it was a stock bore 302 with a cam and a 4 speed manual trans now it's a 347 with victor jr. Heads really big cam and a c4 trans. I used to run a vacuum canister that helped a little bit but still wasn't great. From what I've read manual brakes are the way to go with what I plan on doing with the car.

Measure your pedal ratio. A lot of times factory power brake setups use a weak ratio, because the booster makes up the effort. Use this as a guide to measure your ratio.

I called them with some questions I had, very helpful in master cylinder selection. I didn't know what size bore to get, that makes a big difference on pedal feel.

Mine was from Skinny kid. You have to drill the pedal to remount shaft geometry. Real easy instructions included. I believe it was a Strange MC.

It wouldn't seem that difficult to make your own out of a block of aluminum as long as you move the mounting point up some on the pedal and make a rod
