Cop shot and killed in Oak Park

Did I just read that right?!.:shake:

yes you did
some pretty harsh words but anythings posible just because you wear a badge on you chest dosent mean youll never do anything like that or cant be bad person. until the dapartment and the news brings out the full story of what realy went down anythings posible for all we know he could have been buying drugs

Tragic that the officer was shot, but I agree. Something is fishy.

Something does not add up at all. Why would a cop go back to an apartment? What situation would the cop be in that the gun was not on his person? Why did the cop let his guard down enough to let his gun disappear?

I almost hate to say it, but it kind of sounds like the one guy a few years ago. He lured people back to his place to "get out of a ticket" for a little fun.

I not going to speculate what happened last night but my buddy is a Detroit cop and was just telling me last night that he had a 16 year old that was arrested and the mother had no car to pick her son up.
So my friend and another cop had to take him to his house and release him to his "parents"...He said it was the mom and 7 kids living in the bedroom of a trashed out house.... He tried to talk to the mom about the kids problem but she said "I just can't worry about him...I have 6 other kids to worry about too!"

Who's car?
What was in said car?
What was said to the officer?
Did the 16 year old run to the apartment?

We know just enough about this story to know,
no more than a Police Officer is dead - THATS ALL!

OAK PARK -- A 16-year-old Detroit teen is in police custody after he allegedly shot and killed a 28-year-old Oak Park public safety officer early this morning.

Police wouldn't confirm the teen's identity but family members of Jonathan Belton, a Cody High School student, filled the Oak Park Public Safety department this evening about two hours after the teen turned himself in to Detroit Police around 2:15 p.m. today. The teen -- for whom police had been searching for hours -- was then taken to Oak Park and he'll be charged Monday or Tuesday, said Oak Park Public Safety Director John McNeilance.

Officer Mason Samborski, a four-year veteran of the department, made a traffic stop around 12:30 a.m. Sunday around 10 Mile and Greenfield and encountered a 16-year-old driver without license. After transporting the teen to the Rue Versailles apartments to turn the teen over to an adult, a struggle ensued and Samborski was shot.

McNeilance wouldn't confirm where Samborski was shot, if his gun was used in used in the shooting or if the gun has been recovered. Samborski was wearing a bullet proof vest.

Samborski of Howell was desribed as an "excellent, very diligent officer." His death marks the first time an Oak Park police officer has been killed in the line of duty since 1973.

"It's the worst possible thing that can happen in a police department," McNeilance said. "It's something you never want to face."

Most of Belton's family declined to talk to media Sunday but his aunt, Lodonn Nash, said he's "not a bad kid" and questioned why he wasn't brought back to the public safety department after the traffic stop.

"Jonathan is a good kid, brought up in the church," Nash said. "This is out of character."

Samborski, a Michigan State graduate and one of 60 in the Oak Park public safety department, was married and had a 1-year-old daughter. Funeral arrangements are pending.

well i take back what I said before, now the story makes sense...damn shame. I hope this kid gets whats coming to him

im sick and tired of these people always saying how good the kid his, church going...all a bunch of bullshit

they always turn to the church when the SHTF...someone oughta kill ths piece of shit before he gets to trial...i dont want to support this kids lifetime imprisonment

Why not question why he was driving without a license or maybe why he shot a cop??

Why is everyone assuming? Who cares, a man was shot doing his job :( Stop bickering about how, when, why, where. Jesus, you people are hell of detectives. :shake:

X million

I am disgusted by some of the things I read and seriously wonder what is wrong with people! :buttkick:

We share a frequency with Oak Park so this really hit home for my department.

OnyxSS....10/Greenfield is not a bad area....:shake:

I can tell you there was nothing shady about it from what I heard and know. Which is more than hearing it on the news.

I think everyone needs to worry more about why a 16 year old kid would kill anyone much less a cop!

If your not sure of the full story you should really only make a general reply instead of assuming what happened
