So pick the coach...

It doesn't matter who he is as much as what he is. I trust David Brandon to make the right pick after addressing the media the other day. It became evident to me that he has his priorities straight, and I fully expect that he will return our program to it's former glory. Our next coach will understand what expected, and what it means to be the head coach at Michigan, and that is what matters... and most importantly that no player, no coach, is more important than the TEAM. I hope you've enjoyed the past three years.... because the turn around starts now.

And LESS than the $5.2M mentioned in Dave Brandon's speach...

Justin, go out on a limb. I went on a limb and said Hoke. Who do you think? Hoke? Miles? Ford? Llyod Carr? Bo Schembechler's corpse sitting in the coaches office? Maybe Brandon himself? What do you think? Don't cop out...

It's hard to fully express what you really feel about this situation, but here's my thoughts.

1. Rich Rod let me down. I do believe with more time we would have been right back at the top. He was fucked no matter what next season because of the way the Brandon handled this. That being said, I see why what was done was done. It wasn't the performance that we needed. While I'm still a supporter of Carr stepping down, I'm not opposed to Rod going. It makes sense.
2. Brandon had the opportunity to make this the shining moment of his career. instead he's making it into another Martin moment. The decisioin being made when it was made is complete bullshit. By the end of the regular season he should have known exactly what he was doing. The excuse that he wanted to give the kids playing the opportunity to play in a bowl game without the drama of an outgoing coach over them is pathetic at best. By not making a decision when he should have, he has hurt recruiting, has hurt our image again, and has made this coaching search into a laughing stock again.

I understand that no coaching search goes perfectly. But what has happened prior to the announcement of Rod's firing isn't related to a coaching search, it's related to an AD who screwed the pooch. I don't know enough about Hoke, but at this point, I just want a coach to be picked who can recover from the last 3 years and make us the dominating force again.

Get used to it.

Nice! A video highlight package of UM against Western, Purdue, Indiana and Notre Dame. At least you can travel to Indiana with your head held high...

Anything substantial to prove that? I assume you mean Miles. There's a legion of rumors that if he won his bowl game it'd be his last game at LSU.

The Det News is reporting he was non commital in his resonses last night after the game. If you read elsewhere he's told his players he's not leaving, and if you read even elsewhere, he's told his players that if he's going to leave, they will be the first to know.

He wont leave his team, theyhave alot of players returning and should have a very solid team. He will have a really good shot at a SEC title next year.

Ive been saying it for along time les miles will be a huge mistake, no juco players, no "sec aides" to help with recruiting, LSU has a plane for recruiting Michigan makes the coaches fly commercial

No official sources. A radio station in New Orleans reported last night, during the game, that they had word from inside LSU that he was gone, and that they were working on getting Pelini to come to LSU. A handful of UM insiders/players seem to think it's a done deal.

You can't read much into his comments after the game(ambiguous at best) or to the players. Coaches aren't contacted directly, their lawyers and agents take care of everything. They can flat out say they haven't been contacted, they aren't leaving, so on and so forth, and then down the road they can back up from those statements by saying they spoke the "truth at the time to the best of my knowledge." It happens time and time again. Then again, like I said, he was the the dude that floated out there that he WAS the next UM coach the last time around.

Look at all the rumors about the booster plane landing in Baton Rouge....Les Miles was in Dallas, but I'm guessing the deal makers were still home.

Hopefully it is all a sham. This guy is bad news. At the same time this station was reporting, there were other rumors from respected national sources that Gruden is still very much in the race. That would be my first choice.

Still no coach... Some people are saying Miles is hired and others say he is not. They better have a coach by the end of the week to salvage any type of recruiting class.
