University of Michigan 2007 Official thread

They're just not that good, has nothing to do with Carr, their defense blows goats and their offense could only put up 32 pts on a 1-AA team??? :bowrofl: :lick: :rockwoot: :_slide_:

Dude are you kidding me there offense sucks, do you see the players they have, they just wernt ready to play. There D does suck on the other hand, and so does there special teams.

ROFL - I love how U of M fans lose one game in an upset and think its time to fire people over it. It's one game in to the season and their asses are already sore.

I've been losing one game each season that WE SHOULDN'T LOSE since Carr came in. It's not about this is just one loss. This is an embarrasment, and it's entirely the coaches fault for not having his guys ready to play. You know what he said at his press release? That the defense was doing great, that he had no worries, and that the offense was basically stellar. That was before this game. This game just shows how out of touch he is with his athletes and reality. He needs to go. I've been screaming for his blood for years now. People just keep saying the same thing. "It's just one game... you can't expect to win them all..." Well, I kind of think a division IAA team should not have been even remotely in that game to begin with. Sorry for having standards that a school as big, well funded, and prestigious would lose like this. He needs to resign.

Carr is also the only Michigan coach since 1948 to win a National Championship. He isn't going anywhere unless he decides to retire. The funny part is that MSU has won three National Championships in that time ('51, '52, '65).

ya i see they have hart and morningham and mother henne ????, sorry defense wins championships, if you cant stop app st. how are you going to stop a real school from the big ten or the sec for that matter.:chairfallGreat players dont make a great team, for example the lions or the browns who have had ten top ten picks in the last 10 years and still suck.

any team with that many blue chippers should never lose too a div-2 school .now a low er conference team like a mac school or sunbelt con is different there still a div 1 school with talent ,div 2 athletes our at a div 2 school for a reason ...
this lose is on the coaches period all spring you heard how they will get plenty of action for mallet and other young players so this leads me to believe that even the coaches were over looking the app

your right i think oregon plays a spread offence as well ,and i think they will have alot faster and better talent than app state ,so boys i think mich could be 0-2

There team was not ready there D will hold them back but they have enough offense to run the table the rest of the way if the team shows up. Either way iam rooting for LSU now, people at my work thought I was dumb for last yr but I guess they were wrong.

run the table? are you serious? take the maize and blue glasses off and look at this team, same team that lost 3 games last year minus all of their defensive stars, how are they possibly going to compete?

I am a huge Michigan fan, but this has got to stop with the mediocre play and coaching Ed Martin needs to make a change starting with the coaching staff.

i agree i predict they lose to Oregon who plays a spread with a very mobile QB sound familiar??:pissed:

That's Bill Martin. Ed Martin was the booster that gave the fab 5 money and
shit and destroyed the basketball program. Your point is valid though.

I think we need to go outside the program and pony up the dough to
attract a young, aggressive coach.
Urban Meyer, you listening?
Maybe Les Miles from LSU?

I think the Michigan tradition would be attractive to almost anyone if the money was right.
I think it's one of the top 5 jobs in college football.

Notre Dame, Michigan, and USC are the big 3 to me in terms of grand tradition.
I think most guys would leave most other jobs for these three.

There will be no mid season coaching change at Michigan, if there's one at all.
The national championship does give Lloyd the right to go out on his own terms.

My bad I am just pissed thought I had the correct name. Urban Meyer and Les Miles would be great and they both wanted to come to Michigan before they took there current jobs...

We really need to break from the mold of giving the job to someone in the system, we have the winninest program in the country and they just settle for the big ten title year in and year out. That dont cut it in college football anymore.

there is not one coach after that debacle i would even consider English had fing 6 months to prepare his defence and they were shredded now that is 3 losses in a row giving up 30 plus no thanks, debord ummm no thanks could not win at central? i believe

In both cases, you are dreaming. Why would either of those coaches throw away the money those schools pay, and the fertile recruiting grounds they have in the Southeast. Especially Les Miles. He has the whole state of Louisiana to himself.

Michigan (or MSU for that matter) will not pay what those schools will pay. Why do you think Nick Saban (who was making as much as Carr at the time) took the LSU and Alabama jobs. Outside the box is grabbing an Urban Meyer while he's still at Bowling Green, not at Florida (and this is who I wanted MSU to hire when they hired JLS).

Michigan will not pay large cash for coaches. This is why the basketball program has sucked. This is why Michigan will either hire from within (Moeller and Carr) or from a MAC school (Schembechler from Miami, OH). When Llyod retires (and there will be no change until he does), those will be your two choices. Right now, if Llyod retires, the defensive coordinator gets the job, just like Moeller and Carr.

Show me ONE quote from either saying they wanted the Michigan job. The Urban Meyer thing is a joke because he was interviewed for the MSU job before he went to Utah. When Meyer got the Florida job, it was that or Notre Dame. If you want Michigan so badly, would you interview with two of your three biggest rivals?

Ohio State went outside the box for Jim Tressell (Youngstown State) and I think that worked out OK. Maybe you should look at the coach at Appalachian State (Jerry Moore) instead of dreaming of those who'd never get in a million years.

You can say what you want, but the Michigan job is generally considered one
of the top 5 most prestigious in the country. Whether they'll pay I guess we'll
have to wait and see. Ron English is not in line for the job. Urban Meyer, he got a good fit with Florida coming off the Ron Zook debacle. Not nearly the pressure the ND job would have been. I'm not saying he'd want to leave Florida for anywhere at this point, just that that's the kind of hire I'd like to see them try for. Les Miles may have been an assistant at UM at some point,
that's why his name pops up from time to time.
