the spread is dead but if you try force something that the team isnt built for your just setting your self up for failure and in 3 years the program is in the same sinking boat

As Dantonio proved, far easier to run a pro style offense with spread players than the other way around. Of course MSU, OSU, PSU, UN, Illinois, and a few other defenses will love seeing Denard Robinson dropping back to pass from under center.

You listen to too much Valenti.

I thought the same thing... :)

Was just watching ESPN, and it was stated that Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald was a 'person of interest' by Dave Brandon. Fitzgerald's reply? Fuck off! That's two coaches that told Brandon no. Let's see if he can better Bill Martin in coach rejections.

For the record, Fitzgerald would be a great choice, but I can't see him leaving Northwestern.

By the way, has anyone seen Dave Brandon go from the smart guy in class to the dunce? Just more Ann Arbor Arrogance (AAA). Call the wrecker!

Texas' problem last year couldn't be that they just sucked, could it? One year their coordinators are kings and then they suck ass?

I think the problem was a team thinking that cause they play for Texas there guarenteed a 10 win season. Wasnt the case, the cordinators have been great at Texas look at past coaches, one is coaching next monday.

How do you beat Nebraska in lincoln then loose to a buncha shit teams? They held there own with OU as well.

Idk what there deal was but they cannot afford another season like that. I hope Gilbert gets some confidence and takes control next year. They also have a great recruiting class comming in... like always, hopfully they can make a difference.

I dunno why this is turning into such a charade. I like UofM, and I like to see them do well. I like to see all of our Michigan teams do well. Hire Brady Hoke, spend some coin for some top tier assistants, and call it a day. End the silliness and start recruiting. Plus there's a lot less baggage to deal with, and you can't please everybody. So go for it, they're wasting time.

Not to make excuses but there is an answer to that question. Lots and lots and lots of dropped passes by Nebraska. Including multiple that if caught would have been TDs. Also, lots of missed tackles by Nebraska and lots of penalties against Nebraska. Texas brought their A game and Nebraska didn't show up at all that day.

who would have thought that there would come a day when the coach for northwestern would tell UofM to get bent when offered the head coaching position. lmfao. oh how the mighty have fallen.

Yeah and all in the same day Tony Dungy said, on air, that if Michigan called him they would be very hard to say no to... Tony. Dungy. I'd wait until you see who they land until you start poking fun.

That would be a wonderful choice as well.

nah... i'll go ahead and poke fun now. :thefinger

I love how possibly "gauging interest" and actually offering a job are now somehow synonymous.

Coaches love the fact that universities can't really confirm or deny this stuff for various reasons...it's come out now that Les Miles was never actually contacted by Michigan the last time around. It's a story he put out there as leverage for a new big money LSU deal, and they bought it and paid him. There is a reason Carr passed over him for OC back in the day, and reasons he hasn't been their guy since. The rumors surrounding this guy and the shit he did are unreal.

Pat isn't gonna leave his alma mater, but they wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't at least communicate with him. Now he can "tweet" about how he "turned them down", and he looks like a hero.

If Michigan was irrelevant, it really wouldn't matter what either of them said, would it?

I'd be sad if Tony Dungy went to Michigan, but it'd be great for Michigan. I don't want reasons to kind of like Michigan in any way and both Harbaugh and Dungy would make it difficult to now like Michigan as I really like both those guys.

Asking Valenti to talk objectively about the Michigan coaching search is like asking Che to talk objectively about the positives of capitalism. BSU's Patterson literally doesn't return calls. He's "not taken calls" from programs that Valenti defined as current "national" programs, and yet he talks down a caller who states that and throws it out there as one more reason Michigan doesn't matter on a national scale.

What elite program has gone through a seamless coaching change for a "name" coach(outside the program) recently? It's always a mess, or at least seems that way from the outside. UM fans wanna jump the bridge and UM haters want to push them, but I'm gonna be patient and see how it plays out.

Florida...Notre Dame...LSU...UCLA...South Carolina...Maryland...Oregon...MSU...Ole Miss...Arkansas

These are universities that hired another school's coach or another name coach over the last few years. It can be done. As for elite, 15-22 doesn't qualify as elite.
