Woodward

I agree and am thinking of getting rid of my car.there's just no place to go anymore.i only take it out of the garage go for a short spin and put it back in garage.

im old......LOL I remember cruising main street in Plymouth way back in 85-86. then it was Telegraph....... kids will always be kids... but I gotta say back then there was more of a "sleeper" mentality. Walk softly and carry a big stick was more the norm. 20 years ago things started to change. big radios, spinning rims and silly paint replaced big cams, silly amounts of nitrous and "90/10 shocks" its become more "HEY!!! LOOK AT ME!!! LOOK AT ME!!!!" versus "you dont need to know whats under the hood."

1 Lap down Main street, back to plymouth and turn around at the Wishy Washy.. Repeat lol

I got one of those stupid Trespassing ticks down in Plymouth.. Fought the ticket and won by jury trial.

Looks like the Ro police are getting power of attorney for all the businesses along Woodward......

Just heard that on the radio this morning too. Screw it, cut R.O. out of the equation and head either north or south. But I really have a hard time believing that ALL of the businesses will agree to that. I'm not sure how the police obtain p.o.a. is it a voluntary thing? I would venture to guess that cruisers bring a fair amount of business with them.

Let the kick everyone off of WW on the weekends, let's see what happens to all the OT that was paid for by tickets they gave out. What they dont understand is this.... they can kick us out of lots, but not off the streets. I say, we all head out Friday night, not pull over for any reason, just do lap after lap in 2nd grear at a 40 roll and cause grid lock. The noise from that will far more upset the neighbors than us sitting in a lot.

This bothers me like no other, I know there is dumb ass people throwing trash and pissing in lots, but for the most of us, we are paying for gas, buying food and causing no issue. This is the motor city, cars have been cursing WW over 60 years, and now they want to stop it?

I'm getting to the point, where I may just lease a WW store front store, move my mortgage company over there, and at night turn it into a free hang out. I'll pile so many fucking cars in that lot, ropd will drive by and think its a new dealership that moved in.

I can understand the neighbors being upset about all the noise, but they should have known 3 important things before closing on a home.

1. Don't buy a home next to a freeway.

2. Don't buy a house backing up to a land fill

Most important...

3. Don't be a dumb ass and by a house backing up to the most popular street to cruise on if you don't like the sound of cars at night!!!

Rant done!!!!

Count me in. I've lived here in R.O. for almost 35 years, and nothing is gonna stop me from having fun in the city I reside (and spend my money) in. I'm all about doing laps and having a good time.

Was out on Sat after dinner and we ended up parking for about 1.5hrs with no issues, but we did not entertain the potbelly's area this time so that is probably why.

I will be out tomorrow night and I do plan on doing laps so count me in as well.

If you lease it, the landlord will just boot you when the city gets in their ass. Gotta buy.

Don't the royal oak residents that are complaining realize the revenue brought in around woodward specially dream cruise time and time leading up to it

Sidenote the new peets coffee shop closes at 9pm and cops are in there right away writing tickets

When it was caribou it was 10:30pm

I've lived in RO for 40 years and currently own, and have owned, a 'fun' car for the majority of that time. I do cruise (drive) WW regularly on weekend evenings. That said, I think there's 2 primary root causes for the problems we're seeing:

1) The definition of "cruising" has morphed over the years from being a 90% driving & 10% break/loitering activity... to be more loitering than driving. Many people who are fine with the driving portion aren't as accepting of the loitering part, as the tailgate-like atmosphere can present issues.
2) People are no longer 'cruising WW' on just the weekends. There's hundreds of people tailgating on Thursday nights, even on Wednesday nights now. While most are well behaved, some are not... and when you add that to the directly adjacent neighborhood residents having to work M-F, people rightfully have a much shorter fuse.

Just some other comments:
- Yes, people have cruised WW since the '50s. However, there's a ton more people just 'hanging out' than I can ever recall... going back to the late '80s.
- It's now a 5 day per week, Wednesday-Sunday, during the warm months activity. IMO, the people out there agitating late evenings W-Th are causing a lot of the issues for the 'weekend only' people.
- I don't buy the 'we bring money' argument. For every person that comes to WW, there's several that avoid WW at all costs because of the crowds. And what are you really buying? gas? A coke? A #1 at McDonalds? Murray's might make a few extra bucks... but I highly doubt overall it's a net win for all for all of the businesses, on average. People aren't hoteling it or grabbing a nice dinner here, other than maybe on WDC week.

Again, I welcome anyone and everyone to come to WW and cruise (drive) on the weekends - no issues at all. But I think the locals are getting sick of the people coming here to spend 90% of their time loitering & tailgating in parking lots, esp when it's now commonly encroaching on weeknights. JMO...

I never new people were out during the week, other than during the actual cruise. I work late ever night, so I'm never out there on so we'd of Thursday.

As I do respect the home owners, they new where they were buying before they bought. There is not a chance, those homeowners were not aware that WW is a "car hangout".

I can bet my last dollars this much....if most of the cars sitting, we're actually driving around, with as loud as the cars are, the neighbors would really be pissed off, as the noise an traffic would be much worse.

I 100 percent agree, the bullshit with littering and so on is not acceptable, I don't agree that sitting in a lot, talking, is anywhere near as bothersome to neighbors as driving up and down all night long.

It's tough in michigan, theres not a ton to do here, never really has been. If you don't like the bars, you either hang out with cars or stay home.

I say we just move north, close to Pontiac and see what happens. We don't have much of a choice right now.
