What kind of long term projects are you not working on....?

I'm pretty sure my battery is toast. Can't get more than 10.5v charge... Heard it hissing on the tender. Never went over 6 amps during charging (switched between charger and tender). I might be out of the 36 mo replacement period.

Any recommendations? I don't want to spend another $280 on a red top. I also need a battery that's capable of turning over a high compression engine.

Good news
Summit Racing/Optima covered it under warranty. A new one is being shipped out today, free of charge. I still have the old one, they dont want it back.

Nice! Summit has always been good to me.

Yea, Optima was not much help on the phone. They just told me to talk to the retailer. I called Summit racing and the customer service rep was really easy to work with. He told me to keep the old battery due to shipping hazmat. Before I got off of the phone with him, I already got an email with the new battery ready to ship (pending I provided my old paperwork). They only asked for a printout from Autozone or similar with the test report.

So does anyone refurbish Optima batteries? I don't need it, but if its salvageable, Ill keep it on hand.

Got frame and firewall painted this weekend. Engine is getting painted tomorrow. Gotta go through the trans, and hopefully get engine and trans installed this week sometime.

Looks really good. What did you choose to coat it with?

I'm almost ready to paint my 8.8" rear end for the 69 Mustang. Looking for options.

I sprayed everything with epoxy primer first to seal it up and because I love that stuff. All the black is SEM trim black (because I had it laying around). It's just a matte finish non catalyzed black, I like it. Flows out nice, has the perfect sheen. Once it cures it's fairly durable.

It's about that time of the year again....

What projects are still sitting unfinished?

I've got an 8.8 that I'm wrestling a new gearset in.

I’m starting to fab up my intake tubing and finish the install of my intercooler tonight. I’m also putting a parachute on the car this year. Nothing like waiting until a week before the track opens to start working on the car.

48 Dodge is running, I broke in the cam last weekend. Hopefully it'll be moving under it's own power soon. I've been busting my ass on it.

Finished setting up the 3.55s. Painted the housing, going to assemble it when it's dry then get ready for a test fit in the 69 Mustang in preparation for welding the spring pads.

It's nice to see a pile of parts morph into a finished assembly.

New wood and carpet for the steps on my boat trailer.

Pulled the tail light housings on the 69 Mustang and painted the inside of the buckets chrome to reflect more light. Helped a little but I think I'm still going to do LEDs

Pulled the bulky Kobalt out and replaced it with thinner Craftsman cabs. Should have a bit more (useful) room now.

Just finished the 8.8 swap in the 69 Mustang. Took it for a rip and almost shit my pants. The 2.79/open diff was really holding it back.

Then I got sidetracked and started the cam swap on the 4.6 in the F1.
