turbo guys come in! oil pressure issue

so i have my gauge port after my turbo oil feed (no restriction on my feed line) on a "T". could my turbo feed be taking all or most of my pressure since it has no restrictor before it reaches the gauge port to read inside the car? engine runs good, no knocks or ticks even when i let it idle for 5-10 minutes and rev it up but my pressure will be almost zero/zero on the gauge inside, no matter when you rev it or not, cold and warm do not affect readings either. i pull the gauge port line and turn the engine over with the starter and oil pumps out alot too.

sometimes ive seen the gauge read 20 psi also.

possible bad gauge? its mechanical.

any ideas? i know i can get another gauge and try it or remove my oil feed from the turbo and try it, but im just looking to see if my thery could be valid or if anyone has any other ideas?

new engine, .0020 clearance on the bearings, no ticks at all.

i've also pmed a few turbo guys on here.....thank you everyone whos answered back so far! ill be hunting the issue down later on with some of your tips. it is much appreciated.

Is it a live gauge or electric? My car runs a little less with the turbo feed but not that low I would be concerned. Pull the turbo feed off plug it take out distributer and prime the engine and see what pressure Its at

its a live gauge. with the turbo feed and the gauge attached before when i first installed it would read 15 psi with a drill and the drill would be straining from the oil pump force.

it has about 15 minutes of run time on it and does not tick at all...not even a slight tick. being hydralic lifters an showing zero psi, you would think if it was a true zero, it would be clanking like a mofo.

i let it idle for 10 minutes yesterday then went out and reved it. showed zero the entire time, no ticks.

Takes some balls to idle and rev a motor that might even possibly have no oil pressure lol

What I think may be happening is the feed line may be creating a vacuum to the gauge showing -0- oil pressure. A "T" can have that effect, wheres a "Y" won't.

Ya I would guess a bad gauge. Maybe just check the gauge with air pressure. I hv a twin set up with a double tee and no restricter's and haven't had any issues.

its just money bro! haha (insert little smiley guy throwing cash in the air here)

but for real....if it was ticking i would have killed it right away or any little noise. i felt confident enough to rev it to see if the psi would pick up or not...no movment.

i guess its a "Y" or a "T" i have it connected to.... but the vacuum idea is a good possibility...you would think it wouldn't affect inside the oil system though. maybe i need to switch it up and put the gauge in the first position from the engine and the turbo feed after?

ill try this first. gauge is a good posablity.

would a kinked line to the gauge cause a no psi issue? thinking maybe a kink im not seeing maybe

I had a gauge act up once so I took my air gun and removed the safety tip and screwed the gauge on and it still didn't work so I shot some brake cleaner in it a few times and checked it again and it was perfect! 80 psi on the compressor gauge and the oil gauge

gunked up gauge you say...hmm good posablity...its been sitting with oil in it almost 2 years before i hooked it back up again.

nope, i even pulled the line out, cut the compresssion fitting of and put a new one on...same issue. gonna test the gauge tonight.

Is this a mechanical gauge or a sending unit?

Why not just use a sending unit and the factory guage.

I have the pinout chart for that if you want to find the factory guage.

Judging by the reference of a "line " I'll assume mech.
