Started new weight loss / exercise program….

current progress. This has entirely been done by changing my eating. Still haven't stepped foot in a gym.

Physically I'm not seeing much change. Since my body isn't used to caffeine anymore (don't drink Coffee), when I do drink some, it has a serious impact. I can also tell when I eat like crap. My stomach used to be made of iron. Now i'm mindful of the potential backlash later if I eat like crap. On the very rare occasion that i do eat fast food, the feeling of grossness is almost immediate. it's not regret because I love the taste but my body just hates eating shit now.

Mentally it has it's up and downs. Some weeks I can coast on cruise control and never even get phased. Other times I struggle. I think my approach of not throwing myself 100% into it is the difference maker. I did this once before and it only lasted about 2 to 3 months. I'm 6 months in and feel that I'm still going at it strong. I love that I still get to enjoy some food but 90% of the time I'm on a fairly lean diet. My week day meals are typically white meat, brown rice/vegetable, and some low calorie/impact side. On the weekends I still eat fairly healthy, but I don't focus on it. I still typically eat decent even on the weekend just because my portion control is good and I'm mindful enough to not just gorge myself.

Ryan, it sounds like you're doing great!

I can relate to most of what you stated.

Keep it going - our health, family & life
depend on it.

Looks like your using myfitnespal app. Are you eating the recommend caloric intake or did you modify ?

Just using the one built in. I picked the more aggressive one (2 lbs/week) which puts me at 1500 calories per day. The middle level had me at about 1900 calories per day. My work gives me the premium features for free on it which is nice. I probably wouldn't have paid the yearly fee for it otherwise but it's nice to have.

I rode 34.34 miles today!

I had been doing around 23 to 26 per ride.
My best was 41 miles a few years ago, got
to beat my old record!

I'd love to ride a 100 miles - hopefully one day.

Great distance! Keep it up, it's sometimes interesting to see what you might miss compared when driving in a car.
How much time did 34.34 miles take?

I'm starting this same thing though, I am taking it in steps instead of doing it all at once. First step is no sugar, which is easy until it comes to drinks. Water, why must you be so bland?

3 1/2 hours. And yes, I spot all kinds of things when biking. I found a nice fixer-uper
house in Dundee today, only $29,900!

Yes Sir, that is exactly what I did. I think it also helps to pick a future date
(say in two weeks) so you can start thinking & preparing yourself for the changes.

You can't take away something without replacing it. I replaced pop with tea, coffee
and water with a little pure lemon juice added. Find what works for you & stick to it!

I had the same problem. The only way I can drink water is if it's ice cold. On top of that, I taste difference in different waters. Whether it's bottled or tap. I only have a couple types of water I will even drink and again, has to be ice cold. one thing I did though to help with the blandness is lemon in my water. Sometimes lime. In my office I have a mini fridge and have a bottle of lemon there that I put some in a bottle when I'm drinking it and at home do the same thing. That helped a ton. Once I got past the need to have strong flavor in my water it became easier to not want pop.

Try putting cucumber slices in your water, way better than lemon in my opinion.
