And as can always be expected, you take 2 steps forward and one step backwards! I bought my bare housing new but used as a Tim McCamis housing. Well to make a long story short, Stenod ordered another housing to make a duplicate of mine for another customer and they noticed the housing was shorter than mine by 6in. Sooo they take a better look at mine and notice that there were 3in extensions butt welded on both sides of my housing! They were metal finished perfectly but when you run your finger on the inside of the axle you can feel the joint! :bang:

I had to call Lee from BMR who already ordered my axles to see if there would be any chance Strange did not cut my axles yet. I also need to sell my wheels and buy a smaller back space set to make up the difference. On the plus side I will have a cool deep dish now.

I am confused, if you housing is wider, wouldnt you have less dish on the wheel?

Less backspace = More dish

That is correct, but my brain must be fried or something, because I can not think how you could get a deeper dish if the axle is wider. If the mounting surface of the wheel has to be moved toward the outside of the car, you would be gaining backspacing, and losing dish. Maybe I am too tired, but I was pretty sure that was how it worked.

The rear he bought was 6" wider than advertized. He bought rims to fit under the car nicely... I'm not sure why it matters(strength issue??) but he went back and bought one the correct width(6" narrower) and to make the tires sit in the same location, he needs 3" more dish in the rim.

Ahh, I didnt know he changed back to the correct width rear. Now I get it.

:gr_jest:I love those stock rear frame rails.

 at those as well. Pretty ridiculous but I understand there is a class rule requiring it. Bringing me to...

What class is this car for and what are the rules on the existance of stock parts? Are there other ridiculous remnants of a production car in there somewhere? Do those serve any purpose at all at this point?

And the progress continues...
