Road Race 87 Camaro

I'm loving it too, nice work.

Oh and dropping the engine/trans in as one is easy as pie if you jack the rear of the car up a lot. Best time saver I ever learned and I learned it roughly 5 engine swaps too late.. haha

Thanks everyone!

That (bold) might be the key there. That worked for you on a 3rd gen? With the dizzy in or out?

Dizzy out sure helps too. But yea this method works really well. Crank pulley even clears the front core support. It's nice to dress the engine before its in the bay. We can thank Dave Y for this tip.

Hey Austin - The car looks great. Can we expect to see it at a few 3Balls events this year? First one is April 23rd at Gingerman.

I sold my GTO so I'm currently shopping for a new car.

Matt, I'm dying for some track time... I have a bun in the oven currently, due May 6th. April 23 is pushing it, it with have to be a game time decision unfortunatly since it really really depends on how she is feeling. I can't wait, for either!

What's wrong with bringing that 70 vette out?

These pics are a couple weeks old:

The factory 'diffuser' plastic was floppy and had some holes after I removed the hood latch assembly so I filled it in with 0.040" thick aluminum, painted black, secured with pop rivets.

I decided to make a new lower core support. It might not have been absolutely necessary but my plans were to use a shorter than stock radiator so that it can be pushed forward against the factory core support which is where the AC condenser was. There was some interference issues with the bolts that came up through to hold the air dam in place so I replaced them with bolts pointing down that were welded in place.

Foam on the factory core support to seal up the radiator nice and tight. Tight as a frogs ass.

Ron Davis makes a damn nice radiator. THis one is 31x16x3, factory 3rd gen is 30.5x19x~2. It is a dual core, dual pass, and I opted to delete the fill since I will put a remote fill housing up higher on the engine near the thermostat housing in the upper rad hose. I made the upper bracket out of 0.065 6061T6.

With the oil cooler and factory fan installed. THis of course all had to be fabbed in.

The engine is back in with solid engine mounts and I reshaped the exhaust outlet and stiffened up the exhaust hangers to cure the horrific rattle that it had. Relocated the clutch line bulkhead cause it was .5" away from the exhaust. K-member and all front suspension components were removed, cleaned and painted and I'll finish putting them back in this week. I changed my weight jack set-up in the k-member, I'll show pics of that. I also have new Hotpart.com camber caster plates going in and Hypercoil 1200 lb/in front springs.

This upcoming weekend I'm putting in a new shower in the bath room :( As long as that says a 'weekend' project (4 days) I'll be in good shape for Autorama.

The engineering in this car is second to none. I'm just blown away at the forethought

I picked this up last week:

Basically turn-key, just needs longer ramps made, some better tie down loops, and I need to buy tie downs.

There's a few other things I've been plugging away at. I'll show more later.
