What keith said, + I wanted something that hides dirt and is easy to touch up. Red fades and is difficult to color match. Keith actually matched that color to a can of Krylon. Now if I have to touch it up, I can buy a spray bomb at the hardware store. Doesn't get easier than that.
 
Looks like a million bucks dude!!! Can't wait to see it on track. If you can't make the 18th come out with us on the 25th to G'man.

Also I need to look at your 2nd trailer... My buddy is going to set my truck up for towing today (brakes, lights, hitch etc) so it will be ready to tow.
 
I had good help this weekend so were able to get a lot done. My friend Jeremy drove up from South Bend Indiana and I logged in a bunch of hours; many thanks to him for make the trip up here and busting his sack working on the car. There were some small things that prevented us from getting it running but I don't consider it any real set-back. There is a ton of work to do that has to be done no matter what. We could have cobbled up a few things to make it run but that doesn't really put us any farther ahead is just not the way we do things.

Jeremy had an engine sling so we thought it'd be easier to put the engine in with the Trans attached - not so. I'll never do it that way again in a 3rd gen.

One of the jokes of the weekend was the 'pimpy' red wire loom that I had to buy at Advanced auto for the trailer hitch and brake install that we put on my pickup. You'll notice it routed around the engine 1x and through the header. Jeremy recently installed a brake controller and hitch set-up on his Tahoe so he knew exactly what was needed for my pickup. He put together a parts list for me and we knocked out the whole hitch + lights + brakes install in ~4 hours or so. It's nice to have that done since I will be getting a trailer soon hopefully.

On Thursday night I painted the visible areas on the outside flat black to cut down on glare and it looks a heck of a lot better.

Some parts need ordered, some parts need to be received in the mail, I have a lot of wiring to do still, I think I forgot some bolts at the paint shop, and there are a million small things to do still. Oh, and I'm so glad there aren't fenders on this thing right now.

SO, did you used to build Indy cars, or work on the Space Shuttle, or what?
I've been around a lot of professionally built, championship winning road race cars. None any better engineered or executed than yours. I am drooling over a Camaro!! Please don't tell my friends! I'm a FORD guy!!

Let us know how the first "Trakday" turns out!!

HAHA :D Thanks

The internet is my friend. I've looked at and got ideas from 1000's of pictures of other cars. Plus I'm more 'car guy' than 'racer'. A true racer would have stopped milking this job long ago and got it on track.

I might try and get a track day in before the snow hits. It'd be nice to know how the new changes work out so I have the winter to fix anything. My last track day was October 2008.

Spent a week trying to figure out why it wouldn't start. Turned out that one wire was in the wrong spot :eek:
 
This is absolutely incredible. I'd like my car to be at this level someday! Hopefully ill get to see it at the track next season!

These pictures don't do the paint quality justice - Keith, Matt, and Mike at www.iceninecustoms.com did a fantastic job. With a better camera and better light I'm going to see if I can get some better pictures. If you want to see it in person it will be at Autorama in Feb.

I drove it home after taking these pics and believe it or not, I didn't get pulled over, no one tried to race me, and the car didn't break :beer:

Still a bunch of little things to finish up. I need to get the gauges in, work on the hood/fender/fascia fitment, fix the exhaust outlet, headlights, install the rest of the firewall block off plates so I don't smell like gas, fire extinghisher, door weather-strip, the other 2 hood pins, fix a dzus, and bunch of other small stuff.

There's still 3 events left at Gingerman this year... I'm going to try and make one. Weather is supposed to be nice this weekend but there are some things that must be done first.
 
Absolutely beautiful!!! Congrats on a nearly finished project, now it's time to have some fun with it!
 
I'm not a road race guy, but that car is BAD ASS!!!! The craftsmanship is soooo very impressive. Thanks for the great "project" thread. One of the best ever, good to see not just the straight line stuff gets a showcase here
