Looking to upgrade my computer, need input/help

Well you are talking to a computer noob when it comes to this stuff, so if you dont know if it will fit how would i?

lol

so get that and a bigger internal hd and a 1tb external?

you dont need another internal drive that would be a waste of money. a 1tb external would be more than enough. actually looking at the prices the external usb hdd are not that bad priced.

so just choose one off this deals page that you like:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?bop=And&Submit=SubCatDeals&N=2010000414

i tend to stick with western digital for hard drives. i dont know anything about fantom but they have some good prices on them.

i dont need better looking really, i need a list of part to help me in my original post, and someone that will help me install/transfer and redo my os

What will it do?

and an external hd

and reinstall os

and fix my sound?

if neweggs memory chooser is right that should work for your pc.

the increased memory will make everything run faster, you will be able to have a lot more windows open and not slow down.

yes external hdd to store your music/files.

reinstalling the os and the new memory will make it like a brand new computer again.

whats wrong with the sound? if its just a software issue, reinstalling xp should fix it.

Here is a link to the sound prob

How come some others are telling me to get a 500gb internal, an external and more memory and reinstall os

yup reinstalling xp and using your gateway driver disk should solve the problem.

you have an 80gb internal hard drive (if your specs are right) with a 1Tb external drive why in the heck would you need more internal space? even if you did a lot of gaming where they install big program files you should still be good (which you dont do gaming).

my guess is so i can work off the 500gb internal and it would be faster? idk they looked cheap for the amount of extra space it would give me.

My internal is got 76gb filled..

What would be my working "live" hd then? my internal
