not really, Find out what model your motherboard is and download the sound drivers for it and you should be good to go.
I'd get the chipset, network and video drivers while your at it just to make sure they are all up to date.
 
Try this. Go to your device manager, and see if there are any question marks in it. If there is one, it may be your audio card. From there, right click on it, click properties, then update driver. The folder the nVidia drivers were extracted to should have it in there. You may have to manually point Windows to the driver in the said folder.

Under the control panel. If you open your control panel, click "classic view". There should be either a "system" icon or a plain device manager icon. If you click the system icon, there will be a button you can click for the device manager.
 
The driver I posted should work, its right from the motherboard manufacturers website. It should come with the installer.
