Looking for a bi-directional scan tool info

Wondering if anyone has any input on reasonably priced bi-directional (capable of turning fuel injectors off, turning evap vent solenoids on/off etc,) scan tools. I used to have a Snap On brick which I traded for some engine work, now I have an Ethos which is a nice unit, however not bi-directional. So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a decent scanner for a few hundred that is capable of this, or if I should just keep looking for a used Solus/Modis. Thanks.

I have only ever been able to do that much with any dealership factory scanner or the high dollar snap-ons

I think at a minimum you will be around the 2k range for that type of interaction

A dedicated tuner is the other alternative, but that can get pricey per platform specific and availability of software needs.

what year vehicles? If you watch ebay you can grab a Versus pro pretty cheap, But if you need it for 13-14 vehicles the price goes up fast

I'd like to do gm, ford, Chrysler. Up to about 2010. I don't really work on much newer than that from home.
