after seeing the tip of the stem and locks still in the retainer ..... how is anyone not thinking a flaw in manufacture ? i am an hobbyist . i build quad4's .

i just bought a car with a fresh but locked up build in it too . due to a busted exh valve spring..... i cant say any thing as far as how these guys handled themselves but do not count an honest part failure ...

far as what i know .. cast pistons on a 100 shot in a q4 is dangerous . but 20 bottles and 60k daily beaten miles .. = not totally clueless

also how hard does the cam profile close the valves ? and are those springs strong enuf to pop the tip off in a high rpm float situation ? cause we know the tip aint popin casue it kissed a valve

just an idea .... dont kill me lol

Funny I was just thinking the same thing. Where did the "Pro-engine builder" go? :dontknow:

All this "he shouldn't have run it over 3500 rpm" shit is ludicrous.
With a roller cam, there isn't any break in.
What tuner would set up an engine that rich for "safety"?
Without looking at the valve and head I'll save my opinion on the cause of
the valve breaking. But if that engine was over-revved, there would likely be
additional witness marks on other pistons.
I think that valve broke up on the stem and dropped into the cyl.
Bottom line now, I'd buy the 351 short for $600 and freshen it up.

that 351 is brand new

I have a complete H.O roller motor for fairly cheap if you want something to throw in it for the summer. It sounds like it has a cam, but who knows. I can get a video if you want.

Car is VERY clean. Drive it anywhere, went 12.0's @ 112-114 mph last year with unported heads, smaller cam and smaller carb. I build race engines for a living so i assure you the engine is built flawlessly. Nothing wrong with car just want something different...possible trade for turbo 4 cylinder car. Talon, Eclipse, SRT-4, Turbo Civic...????

Pro engine builder?? You think he would break his neck trying to stand behind his work. The little bit of money it would have cost him to make it right he lost 100x's that amount in future customers. If you build the mother fucker and state claims about it you need to back your words up or get the fuck outta the game!!!JMO
BTW I'm not a engine person but that engine looked pretty carboned up to be a fresh build!!

this really sucks ass that this happened! hopefully you get it going again soon! the car looks really clean!

Well he's already admitted falsely advertising the car, it doesn't have 2.02/1.60 valves.

So I'm sure there are other things that have been misrepresented

x2

i am sure a lot was "misrepresented"

would not usally say this but the 2.02 valves bullshit was a flat out lie and the guy new it seen he builds engines for a living!
