Look what I bought Saturday((HELP))

I am by no means a "professional" engine builder but I have built a few so take my advice with a grain of salt. Pull the other head and look for witness marks in the pistons. This might be a very simple fix. When you put it back together, recheck the piston to valve clearance.

Make sure you also check the valve geometry on the rockers when you put it back together.

You need to pull the engine first. Now we need to figure why it happened. Get the springs tested make sure they are good, check the cam and make sure it is what was listed. Depending on your cash you can easily fix it as long as the block isnt damaged. You need a pistons, need to check the rod. Thats a start.

Nice size nick in the cyclinder if lucky I could go 60 over might clean it up.

You cant go that far on a 302 block. If its that bad, the engine block is toast. Can you get a decent picture. I would come over, but I have some work related things coming up for the next month. I might be able to stop by Sunday afternoon or maybe Saturday evening.

+1 OJ for helpin a member out !!

If you have to do that much work i'd just buy that 351 of Nosbigshot

I agree 100% with this statement right here. While you will have to get a new intake, headers, oil pan and distributer you still have your 302 parts you can sell and you will probably walk away with very little out of pocket and have a much better foundation!

Find some dart heads or you can even find some decent deals on a set of aluminum heads!

Any time

If you could do that would be great. Be here all day Saturday and Sunday till 3:00

Also, take the head to a machine shop, have it fixed, you could probably get $350 for the heads. Maybe more, search and see what those heads sell for on some of the mustang sites.

Have to see it in person, but Ive mangled some heads and had them fixed! My were always aluminum though. From the pics it doesnt look to bad. You can also sell the camshaft. That 351 comes with a camshaft.

I have a 302 stock block you can have if interested. I am in Belleville though. I would sell it but if it can help you get that car back out you can just come get it.

They are 1.90 and 1.60 valves.....my mistake. The valve size wouldnt have a thing to do with the valve dropping. Totally my fault on the sizing. I changed the springs and put new seals in the heads, and set the install height when i built the motor. They were built right as was the engine. Its not like i just started building engines or work for some half ass engine shop either. Those who know me here know that.

Well there you go! You have options now. You can either piece meal another 302 together for little out of pocket or you can do a budget 351 and have this thing riding! Totally your call.

How fucking convenient, is there anything else you forgot? Like maybe to properly adjust the valves?
