That's what I read too. I was reading that the AFM was seamless. Couldn't even tell it was on, plus it was on while pulling slight grades, etc. That is awesome!!! I had that on a car when it first came out and it sucked unless you were driving across Oklahoma...
The 2014 truck isn't out yet. Should be later this summer. Reviews have said the AFM in the new truck is more seamless and reduces to V4 mode more often than the outgoing GMT900 trucks.
This is exactly what I was looking for! If this is true, I'll be getting a '14 more then likely. I thought some dealers already have these. California for example and I could have swore even some dealers here in MI. I had searched some local dealers and they had a selection for '14......
The company drivers at GM I have talked to are saying the average is right around 20 for mixed driving like commuting to work. I haven't been in one yet, though.

I'm actually really "trying" to not mess with anything (daily driver wise). If I got one of those, I would be screwed! LOL! I thought that they weren't getting that great of economy??? Not bad, but not great either. What have you seen on them? I really interested in economy around town (lots of lights, some heavy traffic, other areas of 40-50mph and a little hwy).
Ford? Eco-boost, toss a tuner and a down pipe and drag the shit out of the Chevy's and you've got a better truck

You know you're not going to leave it stock.
I was looking at a LB7, but scared to death of them after researching the injector problems. Supposedly, those are the best years for fuel economy and they obviously respond quite well to a tune, bolt ons, etc. But I don't think I can stomach the quote: "it's not if you will replace the injectors, but when you will...."!!!! I don't have time for that, nor the $$$'s. LLY's were recommended IIRC and I might check those out. New ones don't sound attractive unless I want to deal with removing emission stuff---no thanks. Come on, what's wrong with rolling coal ;-)
Duramax gets a big boost in power and fuel economy after it's tuned and you yank the damn DPF filter out of the exhaust. Do a search on it. My 06 Duramax got great mileage... My 08 with a DPF filter.. Not so great.. 06 could smoke the tires.. 08...Not so much... 06 Never had issues... the 08 goes into reduced power mode because the DPF filter gets PLUGGED UP!!. OWNERS MANUAL SAYS " DONT IDLE THE ENGINE"...Seriously?? don't idle the engine!?!!? it's a friggin diesel!!! To clear it up you hold the throttle wide open in neutral until it clears up... Genius engineers designed that setup...
Towing 7000lbs?... get a 5.3.... Towing a House with attached garage?? get a Duramax. It stomped the Ford diesel in all performance tests too last I seen.
5.3 with a 60MM turbo would be awesome too...
Ouch!!! Is that driving easy? I hope you're matting it to the floor if you're only getting 13ish. Friggin emissions....
I have a 2013 Sierra 2500 diesel that averages 13-15 MPG.
Yes, stupid as hell, but I'm getting older I guess. Looks like fun if you don't mind abusing the hell out of your truck or potentially eating a chain in the melon....
Anyone else think hooking the trucks up is stupid as hell?
