Diesel trucks racing on Woodard Friday

Ran an 11s slip this year, thanks! What you driving again? Oh yeah...nvm.

Can you post your time slip....Oh yeah...nvm. :)

Last year when we met and you got your ticket on Woodward in Birmingham I was in a bolt-on Mustang that we just picked up for my dad...This years project is a track car (road race) for when I instruct...I also have a 2010 Dodge and a 2009 Nissan. What was the point of that question?

I have no idea where they are coming from. I live in Ortonville, so im sure its about just as bad as Brighton. At least the actual ricers cant blow smoke all over the place.

As much as I think the "stacks" look stupid I do appreciate the fact that they blow the exhaust up instead of out the side at cars and people!

This thread is getting retarded. The facts are this:
We hung out with the guy who owned the Z06 and his buddy (who owns a 2011 GS). HE said he recently bought the Z and it was already built the way it is now. He said it has a cam, blower and exhaust and it put down 700 on a local dyno. It had 20's and was sitting pretty low (probably coilovers) because he was a bit more stable than I was in turns when we were going down 696 at higher speed. He also said he was running 6.5lbs and the bottom end was stock aside from the cam.
He ran the truck from a low roll a couple times and from a dig a couple times. The truck won. They were laughing about it at stop lights because they had never seen a truck that fast. From my vantage point, the truck launched HARD. In fact, he stopped right in the middle of Woodward in front of Potbelly and boosted it up and everyone that was watching was in awe. It was impressive.
Would the Z06 pull him in up top once the truck becomes a moving brick wall of resistance? Probably, but they weren't running into the higher gears on the street.

What I took from the whole thing is that the Z06 probably not making the advertised 700hp because I hung with it quite well.
That's it, end of story. You can believe it or not, but that's how it went down.

I can believe it, there are some trucks out there that are decently quick... would I ever choose a 7000lb brick as a start to build a drag-oriented vehicle.... ummm yeahno.

still, z06>dodge ram :icon_hamm

OK, Ok we believe you!

I just started this post to find out more about the truck because I am looking for a tow vehicle and If I can build a fast a$$ big stinky diesel (without stacks) that would be fun!

Geez you Corvette guys get all up-tight :) (PS thanks for lunch!)

on a serious note, if you are going to want to use your tow vehicle and mod it extensively its not a good idea. I have had a few friends with built up diesels and the way the converter locked and valve body and other things it couldnt event tow a trailer smoothly without jerking it badly. He ended up selling it cause it was so impractical, and it was a bottom 13 truck at best.

Another Cummins truck that a friend has jerks so bad crusing at 45mph that its uncomfortable to even ride in. Almost feels like extreme cam surge

i cant believe there are people on this planet that dont like diesels. that blows my mind. lmao. how can you not like an engine that can make insane power/torque with such little work? im not sayin the diesel in question in this thread was a stock truck with a tuner...not the case. but i AM saying if i could afford it i would own a diesel truck in a heartbeat. the fact that they are loud, dirty, stinky trucks make them even cooler in my eyes. call me a hick or whatever, but i would MUCH MUCH MUCH rather see a shit ton of diesel trucks on woodward than 93 crx's with folgers cans and underbodies. just my .02

If I remember tonight I'll post it - its nothing special.

Driving daddy's car...'nuff said. :)

Its not that I dont like diesels. I would love to have one to use as a tow vehicle, they have so many benefits as we all know and are known to be reliable. Im just not a fan of modding them to the extreme.

I would say that its mentality of the people who own them that ruin the image for me, not really the concept of the truck. I like a lot of those trucks a lot actually

Thanks....That is good to know! I wasn't even thinking about a diesel for a open trailer and light car,(4000lbs total) but seeing that truck got me thinking.

.......that my mommy and I purchased for him as a birthday gift! (Again, point?)

The point is, Sounds like he is calling you a Thumb Sucker! ( LOL )

sure were lovin' it when those injectors took a shit ;)

Mine did that too. That hurt. Still a bad ass truck though. There are two ways that they fail, the first was a manufacturing defect. The second is just mileage and design. Supposedly if you change the fuel filter very often, it won't happen. I change mine every oil change now.

dmax front end can't handle that kind of aftermarket power, only fords and dodges with real 3/4 ton front axles.

4wd trucks rock for street racing though

If anyone has seen the Hallas trucks out on WW or in Pontiac they would believe how fast they are. Last time I talked to him his Cummins was making like 100psi and his PSD was around 70psi or so. They are very fast trucks.

As far as this argument goes, just line up Lethals Z against the truck and see if it really is fast. Problem solved.

yep.. they also say if u pour about 2-3 ounces of 2 stroke oil in with the fuel when u fill up it will help keep them lubricated and last longer too.
