Channel 4 Undercover - Ford Employees boozin it up

Typical union BS, "Its not our fault its managements fault" cry me a river piss me a stream, I am so tired of the Union guys trying to pass everything along to management. I have worked in several ford buildings and still do, The BS the UNION guys pull is amazing I cant do that its "not my job", Im just glad the tables have turned and that attitude is going to push many guys out of a job. Perhaps you can explain to me why the people building the cars on the line with little to no education make more then the degreed professionals who engineer them? My advice is take the buy outs because when the contract come up Alan M is not going to put up with the bullshit that has been pulled in the past he was brought here for one reason to bust the union, he did it at boeing he will do it here. I have the feeling when a strike is threatened he will say fine and just replace all the workers will the people already in line. The days of the lifetime job is gone and the assy line workers are going to be paid on their merit and work ethic. Once the Union is gone Ford and GM will come back stronger and better then ever and I look forward to it. A factory job is not a upper middle class job.

First off, I never excused anyone from doing it. What I said is, that the assholes that run the place do the same damn thing.

Second off, I take offense at someone telling me that because I am in the UAW I dont work hard. Ive been at Ford for about 12 years now. I go to work everyday, and I bust my fucking ass for that bunch of arrogant know it all pricks. Ive got 2 bad knees, a fucked up shoulder and a wrist that hurts so bad in the morning sometimes I have to take a handful of aspirin to put the keys in my ignition. So dont tell me that all hourly laborers are worthless.

I had a boss recently that was so fucking stupid she tried to write me up because she didnt know the difference between vertical and horizontal. She watched me do my job, then read my job description and said your skipping the horizontal bolts. (Which is what I shoot). This is a person with a masters degree. In what I have no idea. God Bless Afirmative action.

You want to know why people say "Its not my job"? Because if I do something thats "Not My Job" and the bosses see me do it, Its all of a sudden now "My job". I work hard enough. If we make to much money, DONT SIGN THE FUCKING CONTRACT NEXT TIME.

I totally agree with on that one. Management from the early 90s let shit get waaaaay out of hand. They have (almost) nobody to blame for those decisions but themselves.

But I gotta tell you, it's hard to be sympathetic to an organization that says "well, we make a completely uncompetitive wage and we're gonna put the company out of business. What should we do...eh fuck it, it's there fault, let's run this bitch into the ground". Obviously that's a gross oversimplification, but you run into that attitude everywhere around here. And it's only here. I'm in contact with people from across the U.S.A everyday and they are all blown away at this battle because for them it's a complete and total non-issue. They are stunned at how protective the legitimate good guys are of the shitbags.

And if you're salaried? Benefits? Pay an extra 20%. Pay? Work more hours, get paid less for it. Fired? No buyout, just a kick in the ass on the way out...

I hated the UAW while I worked for one of the big three. I seen alot of the UAW people do stuff that would take normal people 1/4 of the time. The matenance people took two weeks to mow what a normal lawn crew could do in 2 days for less than hald the cost. I have seen the test track close for days for snow removal that would take two 8 foot plows a day to take care of. The have road commision trucks with wedge plows, front loaders and belly plows.
On the other hand, I seen a few people that worked very hard and got looked down on because of it.
Its mostly a problem with the leadership. But the leadership is affraid to do/say anything cause the union is so strong

Well as an educated UAW worker I'd like to respond to this one. First, I was taught in college that companies need it's employees. Take it from me Management treat their employees like shit. They harass, intimidate and generally believe non-skilled labor are total morons. Second, I was taught that companies are not for just profits but to build a strong lasting institution that works well with it's community. Horseshit, companies are bottom line and that’s it, they would see you down the river for two pennies. So as a college educated UAW worker I say :flipa: FUCK Management. Those greedy bitches

You were taught wrong. Companies are in business to make money, not friends. Sorry those are the breaks.

I work at my families business and if we don't turn a profit then there is no need for employee's. We take care of our employee's VERY well, but there is a limit. We aren't the Red Cross.

All I will say about this shit is, don't lump us all into one basket. There are good workers out there, me being one of them. The shit that some of my co-workers get away with makes me sick. AND THEY GET PAID THE SAME AMOUNT AS ME WHO IS BUSTING THEIR ASS ON THE LINE!

UAW workers need to report this shit. You need to complain. It might be too little too late though

THis is my point. Do something about. Sorry, but if you have to turn your buddy in to save your job then you should do it!

My lazy ass dad did the same thing with GM, literally, I used to meet him at the bar for lunch. He'd get there before me and would leave long after me.

And by reading some of your posts, I think you guys are just pissed you dont work with the UAW and instead make 1/2 of what they do.

I'm confused. So you didn't care your Dad did this?

No one here is pissed they can't be like your Father and screw the company. I feel for all my friends and family that work hard for the UAW because people like your Father have ruined the Big 3.

The UAW turned a blind eye to these clock robbers for WAY too long. Now it's time to pay the piper and alot of hard working men and women are going to suffer.

*please understand I don't mean to slam your father, but his actions are just what this thread and that news broadcast were about*

Cant wait.

In one way unions have help the general middle class, but in the other hand we have done this to ourselves.

And no I really didnt care, what was I suppose to do? Say, "Hey do work when you at work like everyone else!!".

I would go into his plant and everyone would just be sitting around. He, and everyone around him, ("Skilled trades") were all doing the same thing. He would come home and tell me how everyone only had 2-4 hours of work and then nothing to do. So instead of just sitting there I assumed they would rather goto the bar.

Another "issue" that is sinking these huge companies is that cool little tool that is trying to be revoked in Proposal #2.

"Sweapers" - Move product, fix stuff and clean the floors. They got paid ~25 and hour.

About 10 years a ago a floor sweaper was promoted to a night shift supervisor. My dad would bring home daily work assignments at least one or two times a month with the STUPIDEST SHIT.

The one that REALLY stick out in my mind that I will always remember was.

-Remove all windows, supports, controls, and fastners. Make sure not to brake anything.

See anything wrong with that?

May the best man do the job and to hell with the UAW, maybe a new union will start after the fall of the UAW that actually has some control and will fire shitty workers for shitty work and not have bullshit "greaviences" (sp).

Its not that they are too strong? In todays world they have next to no power and are losing more and more grip everyday.

Its that no one gives a shit/ will do anything so why complain and get on someones bad side? The manages are not UAW so they are not protected nearly as much as UAW workers.

Another misinformed jackass throwing us all under the bus. Good call, genius.

I never knew this board was so full of union haters. Sure is sad.

it will be interesting to see how the contract goes in 07....i would make sure everyone that is employeed by the UAW has a couple months worth of savings...shit is going to hit the fan.

I can't believe so many people are willing to sit here and argue that unions arent protecting the losers that are helping sink the big 2 1/2.

My brother works at GM truck and bus, he told me just the other day that he can not believe how many people that are not only drunk, but have BOTTLES sitting next to them on the line. If the union leaders, and it's die hard members would stop standing up for them, everyone wouldnt be screaming how bad the unions are. Any organization that continually stands up for the deadbeats is a useless organization.

Unless you are one of the deadbeats, stop telling us how wrong we all are. You know as well as we do that the union does it, so denying it only can lead us to believe that you ARE one of the overpaid deadbeats.

It's sad? It's totally unsurprising. I don't think anybody hates unions per se. I think everyone respects an organization that tries to solely make sure workers aren't exploited. But that is totally not the case with the UAW. People across the country have heard the horror stories of the drinking, drugs, laziness, complete and total lack of understanding of basic economics. And many of us here have seen it first hand. Who doesn't know a plant worker who tells us how cool it is he watches DVD's most of the day and has his buddies clock him in and out? And people get sick of the blanket protection the shitsacks receive from the good ones while the companies go under.

I really hope our UAW guys on the board understand that people don't think ALL UAW members are worthless sacks of shit. People just wish they'd wake up and not take such a myopic view of the labor market. Nobody wants to watch Michigan to collapse completely.

These workers have been working for GM for 30 years brother. If they are so the problem then GM would of went out of business long ago. Its the few lack luster UAW workers that bring down the rest. And I'm fine with admitting that. But I'll tell you one thing for every One bad seed not doing anything you have seven to ten doing an honest days work!!!!!!

GM also had 50% of the market 30 years ago so everyone made money despite the wage/healthcare costs

Haters? Nawwww. Just people that live in the REAL WORLD. I've got sooooooo many stories about my UAW customers and their work habits.

Don't get me wrong. I've got family and friends that bust their ass for the money they make, but I've also got the lazy fuckers too.
