Car was stolen...any tips or advise dealing with insurance compny?

Remember, you are owed retail value - NOT wholesale / trade in value!

Be very careful about this, many insurance companies try to stick you
with those lower values. People who don't know values or don't fight / question
those offers get stuck with a lower insurance pay off.

my response.

Hi Jessica.

This amount is not acceptable.

1. the mileage is above the estimated mileage on my old truck. While I understand that we cannot verify actual mileage, the comparable listed trucks are over the miles. Is it possible to only compare trucks with under 100k miles.

2. My research showed the KBB value range from $15,085-$18,760

3. Auto Trader listed only 4 trucks comparable to mine in a 500 mile radius, those trucks ranged from $14,500-$21,995. Averaging $18,426

4. Yahoo Autos has 5 listed in the 90-100K mile range. Ranging from $16,995-$22,500.

This truck was limited edition and a rare collector vehicle I think the examples show that the market for these trucks is higher. My was in excellent condition and under mileage, I would like a higher amount to feel comfortable closing this claim.

thanks
-joe

odds are they are basing it off a silverado not a silverado SS, ask them to explain how they came up with that number

That is a great point. Back when I was trying to find a trade-in value for my 2004 F250 Harley Davidson diesel I ran into this. Most places were coming in at 8-10k for price. They were just pricing out a Lariat. I finally had some dealers price me accordingly and the price jumped to $17K(ish) That's a big difference

If they havent already provided it, ask for a copy of the CCC report, check for all the correct options. Make sure they at least marked all the conditions ratings as normal. If you have any receipts for oil changes, belts, tires that are fairly recent, they may be easier to change the ratings to above average.

If you guys are trying to say red heads are crazy......

CCC report has it at $11,900
She responded to my response and said KBB does not matter (I hate when anyone says that)
Email her the listings showing the higher value.

working on an email now with ad's that show higher prices.
all the advise has been great so far, now just got to see if I can get her to move up.

No pic's...would feel nice to know what the person who's trying to f me looks like

update:
she said sent her the list from Auto trader and Yahoo cars. Sent her over 10 that showed way more value. She says I cannot use the 2005 as a comparable model, WTF...

I sent some pics of my most recent brake job> She replies you dont have specialty part insurance those wont be covered.

I replied: I know I wont get the value for those parts, but I wanted you to see the condition and effort I Iput into making my truck excellent.

Insurance companies suck...I did not bitch about the rate I was paying, I did not negotiate it down...I paid it. But when its time for them to pay me a fair value, they want to screw me over...

could an appraiser value a car with out the actual car?? Someone who knows cars better might get that they were only made from 2003-2005...

how many miles were on yours? Problem is NADA books dont list SS models , from what i could see

we had to estimate b/c I had no documentation of mileage...I do all my own oil changes and all documents were in truck. she estimated it at 98K, I would guess it was really 85K...she said we already gave a you a 3k adjustment for the miles and still trying to give me 11K...so you were trying to give me 8k, but b/c of the mileage I get 11...
