Apparently, you can't fix stupid in Camp Mustang...

Reality, and facts beg to differ with your post. Here is a list of all the Lambo's that had slower ring times. I am sure they all cost less and go slower in the 1/4 mile, so by your criteria all is right in the world.

7:41.27 Camaro ZL1 (2012) GM test driver Aaron Link October 2011 GM conducted test (10/2011)
7:42 Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 SV Horst von Saurma Sport Auto (01/2010?)
7:46 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera Horst von Saurma Sport Auto (09/2007)[43]
7:47 Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 E-gear Horst von Saurma Sport Auto (01/2007), Sport tires

So what was that about a brick competing with a wedge? Maybe Lamborghini should do what Ferrari has done and buy magnetic shock technology from GM, then all the little wedges could keep up.

10 year old, 580hp, AWD Murcielago traps faster and has a higher top speed than ZL1. Oh, and it's not a Camaro.

If you want to compare 2012 models. . . well, here's a little video for you:

After seeing how 500whp Camaro's couldn't keep up with my GenII Viper ACR with muffler & cat deletes. The ZL1 does not even come up on my radar as a car to watch out for. But if anyone with a ZL1 wants to see what will happen against a 600bhp, RWD Lambo. I'm down.

So since we're waiting for magazines to put GT500s and ZL1s on road courses together, when are the GT500s going to be available to them in a manner that allows that to happen?

The results from Lightning Lap are in. Same day, same driver. The ZL1 beat the GT500 by 3 seconds.

Hell, the 1LE was less than a second off of the GT500s time.

Nice to see some real figures.. Where's the expert spreadsheet maker to chime in? After riding in the ZL1 before/after mods it's a sick sick car. 500 is also a great car, glad to see these kinds of cars being made still!

Is this supposed to be shocking news? I always thought the Camaro would kill the Shelby through the turns with the dragstrip being where the Mustang shines.

when a driver with a pair of balls drives the GT500 it run's 2:54.6.......

Oh well
so would that same driver with a pair of balls run a 2:51.4 in the camaro? having a pro driver drive both to his capabilities is going to net you the same results

The Mustang people can hook up with Ralph Gilles and the Viper people and be sad about their magazine losses to GM produts together

Although, The GT500 camp may have more of a beef because the Corvette and Viper were run by Randy Probst, a very good, professional driver, while the Lightning Lap isn't done by pros I don't think, just magazine guys.

Disappointed GM didn't send an ATS.

I didn't remember that Probst was the driver for the LS GT500/ZL1 test whichever mag did. I'm assuming that is the one he drove for. That fact alos kind of takes some wind out of Ralph's complaints of Probst's driving of the Viper.

Id just like to see someone pull the highway gear out of a GT500 since we'll never go 202 on a US freeway anyhow and see how it works. Its gotta be bogging it down
