Apparently, you can't fix stupid in Camp Mustang...

On most tracks it really probably doesn't have an impact, it just changes which gears you are in on the track. Most cars don't go lower than third gear on most tracks so a car with a super long first gear is just going to spend more time in 2nd and 3rd instead of 3rd and 4th. Unless your trans stupidly put Reverse on the left with no positive lock out method that isn't really an issue.

Anyone catch the MT article with the Track Pack GT and the Camaro 1LE? They give all kinds of praise to the 1LE for delivering more content, but fail to mention the unique suspension components for the GT. Our boy Pobst drives both and complains about the suspension, yet this is the same setup he compared to the M3 not that long ago. Guess MT has a short term memory...

the rear matters, we built a car with a higher numeric rear gear, its insanse. However that doesnt matter for this thread since we dont sell it to the public.

Probst dorve the GT500 and ZL1 at Laguna thats where the GT500 was faster.

The ZL1 is a FAR easier cra to drive fast. That why magazine jockeys are faster in it. The GT500 is not an easy car to drive at the limit on a road course. However it's very capable hance why pro drivers are faster in the GT500 and journalists arent

Wouldn't this same logic apply to the ZL1? Got any spreadsheets or charts that show performance changes with the gear change?

I was explaining that we shouldn't consider a different gear in the GT500 since we don't sell it.
The Camaro already has a higher numeric gear. Go too high on a blower motor and you approach or cross the point of diminishing returns and could go so far as to hurt times because your not leveraging the Tq.

Why would I have a spreadsheet? All we have is hard data from track testing. It's like the 5th time you have mentioned it? If its a joke we aren't getting it....

I like to see hard facts instead of he said/she said/we did stuff. There has to be public testing data out there somewhere, thought you'd be able to locate it or knew if it maybe since you're closely involved

So is the Ford test driver not a pro then? I seem to remember Ford taking the GT500 to the Ring and not posting times. But if he was an amateur magazine guy, that would explain it.

And the 550-horse Shelby? The GT500 struggled off the line, proof that power means little if it can't be fully utilized. "A tough car to launch, with tons of power at low rpm," says road test editor Scott Mortara. Thus, the Mustang, with times of 4.1 to 60 and 12.4 at 115.8 in the quarter, put down the slowest -

Your ignorance is cute.... A ZL1 would have a tough time with a 5.0 let alone a 600hp Shelby.

I know you've been out of town, but still looking for some public knowledge hard facts data! :icon_bigg

I can't post our work testing data. That's like asking me me to walk over to the studio take a photo of a future model and post it here..........

Didn't you read where I said public? :-)

Someone needs to change the title of this thread to "You can't fix stupid in camp Mustang".

Good call Geoff, Done!

ok sounds like a job for ...

paul tracy & tanner foust give the pair to the 2 of them and have them each wring out each car

The problem with that is they are close enough that whichever car Paul Tracy gets will win. Tanner's car only ever wins when it is way better than PT's car.
