its cold in michigan in late december and early jan, USC wasnt in the rose bowl, and they have to win the pac 10 to get there , it could be oregon in it, simple fact is kids dont want to play at schools that dont win NC, look at ND, michigan, "powerhouse schools" that havent done shit, its not the coach its the program Kids play college ball to go to the NFL and teams that win NC get on TV so the kids get drafted

USC takes federal money TCU is completely "self" funded from what I understand ...... did you watch the 30 for 30 on SMU?

There's no such thing as a clean NCAA program. It's the biggest load of shit in all the land. If you think some of these mouth breathers that would get an F minus in 4th grade reading are actually adhering to an academic program, you're nuts. Go check the twitter feeds of 90% of college athletes.

Yah most of it. Thats weird a "private" school is aloud to take federal money. I always figured private = no government money, but obviously there must be more to it.

sure theres clean programs they just dont win, Michigan used to be able to recruit based on their name whats the saying "you dont choose michigan, they choose you"

Good riddance RR, don't let the door hit ya on the way out!

Anyone see Rece Davis ask Harbaugh last night during the trophy presentation what his timetable was on making a decision? Dick move ESPN, but no big surprise.

I'd like to see U of M get some of its credibility back, and I think JH would do it the right way, like he's done at Stanford. I'm a big fan of coaches that build teams, not player cliques. Getting a group of average players to play together and above their talent level is a tough job, and few coaches in college can do that.

No one wants to play a bowl game in the freezing cold. Both bowl games I went to the fans was 50/50. Michigan vs. Texas and Penn st. vs. Florida

It's not about what percent of the fans are yours at the game. It's about practicing on your own field, sleeping in your own bed, knowing your surroundings. Teams that play in their backyards have a huge advantage. To say it's not a big deal because of the split fans is to say a Michigan versus MSU game played at michigan stadium wouldn't be a michigan home game if half the attendees were State fans.
There's a bigger advantage than just fan attendance in playing locally.

BS - Notre Dame and other historic school will continue to get some top talent. A national championship surely helps to bring in top recruits, but then what's your reasoning for Texas' fall? How about Miami? Why did Florida have such a let down year?
How can you say "it's not the coach it's the problem" when it's the coach that builds and makes a program? Lloyd Carr continued to get some top recruits because guys like Henne wanted to play in his Pro-Style offense that could lead him to the pros. Michigan had a boat load of quarterbacks start this year in the NFL, and not one of them played in a NC game.
You bring up some good points, but they're not end-all-facts. There are a lot of variables, and UofM like all other northern schools still has potential in doing well on a national stage in the future if they play their cards right.

lol well ok then only a hand full of teams have this advantage...USC, LSU, Miami. A bowl game isnt like a typical road game, most teams get there a week early and go about there normal schedule. Not like there traveling the day before the game.

I'll be happy about this if Brandon doesn't come out and stutter about how they will now begin their search. if this turns into another Martinesque search I'm going to start petitioning for Millen to become AD.

Oh I hear you on that, but I'm sure you'd agree that it'd be easier to only be 30-120 minutes away, rather than recovering from a full day of travel.

Another rumor is the Les Miles is back in the running. Though nothing I can find indicates it, it's being talked about on Facebook.
