This is part of why it's more amazing how well Stanford has done
TCU is another good example.

lol just like SMU back in the day.... guarentee TCU is paying players big bucks.
TCU is a private school so the NCAA doesnt have as much influence
USC takes federal money TCU is completely "self" funded from what I understand ...... did you watch the 30 for 30 on SMU?
Yah most of it. Thats weird a "private" school is aloud to take federal money. I always figured private = no government money, but obviously there must be more to it.
Aloud or Allowed???
No one wants to play a bowl game in the freezing cold. Both bowl games I went to the fans was 50/50. Michigan vs. Texas and Penn st. vs. Florida
its cold in michigan in late december and early jan, USC wasnt in the rose bowl, and they have to win the pac 10 to get there , it could be oregon in it, simple fact is kids dont want to play at schools that dont win NC, look at ND, michigan, "powerhouse schools" that havent done shit, its not the coach its the program Kids play college ball to go to the NFL and teams that win NC get on TV so the kids get drafted
It's not about what percent of the fans are yours at the game. It's about practicing on your own field, sleeping in your own bed, knowing your surroundings. Teams that play in their backyards have a huge advantage. To say it's not a big deal because of the split fans is to say a Michigan versus MSU game played at michigan stadium wouldn't be a michigan home game if half the attendees were State fans.
There's a bigger advantage than just fan attendance in playing locally.
Well said Overboost, and I hope you're enjoying the 5-0
May I also add in that USC is a private school as there seems to be confusion.
lol well ok then only a hand full of teams have this advantage...USC, LSU, Miami. A bowl game isnt like a typical road game, most teams get there a week early and go about there normal schedule. Not like there traveling the day before the game.
Oh I hear you on that, but I'm sure you'd agree that it'd be easier to only be 30-120 minutes away, rather than recovering from a full day of travel.
