Denard Robinson credited the offensive line, the running backs, and GOD for beating Notre Dame in front of touchdown Jesus himself.

Did you say Yaeger bombs???

Did anyone see the schlacking that Uconn handed out Saturday? I suppose that was because they had a weak defense and offense?

Oh come on. What the hell are we going to talk about if they don't release meaningless ratings every week? The more the better. Hell, release a new ranking Friday based on the Thursday games. There's really no need for a rating before the final week of the regular season ends and they need the ratings to determine what happens in the BCS.

I thought about that too....but what does 2 games in conference matter? If you are only basing it within conference, nobody "really" knows how tough that conference is relative to other conferences anyways. Besides that, the Pac 10 already has played conference games at this point  No matter who you are playing, cupcakes or not, 4 games at least give you a feel for the team. They may collapse after that, like Michigan did last year, but it's a better starting point than doing it in the preseason.

The problem is, is that these meaningless early season rankings mean too much without a playoff system.

That's the exact problem - especially when multiple teams go undefeated. When you have 3 teams without a loss, it's the two that started off as a higher rank that get the shot at the championship. Same can be said when there's a bunch of really good 1 loss teams (in general).

It wouldn't be 100% perfect, but I think there should be at least a 4 team playoff (1 vs 4, 2 vs 3, winner's play for the number one spot).
