Winter Repair - 418" Turbo Mustang - E85

So I got one new piston in the mail. It's damn close but not identical. No biggie but I check the website again and it says not for use with twisted wedge.

I call probe and they say to just fly cut. They explained that the old design used to work with twisted wedge....thanks for telling me now.

Tyler Crockett can fix with a fly cut.

This was suppose to be an easy winter refresh.......ughhhh

pistons prepped, rings on and locks done........the two new pistons are in.

I reused the same rings.....lets test the theory that I should have replaced the rings.

should have some fresh paint on it tonight and be waiting for heads.

Badass build. That new turbo looks massive. Is that a precision 101? 1.0 a/r?

Thanks!

The Turbo is a precision 98 with a 1.0 AR. It was actually a joke to raz some of the guys on here. This was Fryguy's old turbo that I snapped a photo of next to my turbo

I'll be curious to see if the oil pan will fit with those solid motor mounts. I thought I tried it once with a QA1 k member and the pan hit the steering rack.

Good to know, I have the same pan with the solid mounts and a Team Z K member with flaming river rack. Sure hope this damn thing fits lol

I've done it before using offset rack bushings to move the rack down and a bump-steer kit to line up the tie rod with the control arm. The rack in the factory location with drop solid mounts will hit.

How much lower are the HPM solids vs the Energy Mounts. Energy mounts are like convert mounts. I thought the HPM's are the same as a convt mount?

Got new intake setup.....saves 15lbs and allows easier access.

Not all assembled, but I tossed on the new intake.....another few hours and it will be ready to drop in the car.

Jegs is one of my favorite places to deal with.....they price match anyone.

Amazon had the best pricing.....so I used their pricing at Jegs.

Lower Intake was $360
Rails were $120
Elbow was $130

Total = $610

The throttle body is a 90mm Wilson...but I already had that from 6 years ago when I first put the car together. I can't remember what I payed for that.

Now lets hope it fits under my 1.5" cowl hood......
