When did you become a MM????

Just watched that Pinks video. Great to see all the familiar faces. Rick, Raj, John and a bunch of others. Looked like maybe Reiko was in there as well? Baby faced Joe and Nick. haha

I also remember a big group of us going to one of the Fast and Furious movies at AMC20 in Livonia, various trips to Coney's our Hooters. I remember going to a Hooters on the east side somewhere with I think it was Eric and maybe Rod? Crap, I forgot to mention Rod442 in my last post. :( Anyway, I don't remember who exactly was with us, just remember trying to track the waitress down later in Mt. Clemens. And no, we weren't stalking her, she invited us. :) We never found her, though. IIRC the bar she was at was too busy and we didn't want to wait to get in so we went someplace else.

Man, I shouldn't have started listing names in that first post of mine. There are so many I missed and I am having a hard time remembering screen names as well. Here are a few more that I remember hanging out with: James (Indy), John (Formula), Shelly (was the cop car her boyfriend's? I should know his name but can't think of it right now), Mike (Tuna), Greg (Bishop), Jacko, Kevin G., Larry (1BadAir), Jim P. (TurboTA), Chris J., Scott (DLS) and Brandon (2V). Man, I know I am forgetting even more. We really had a great crew.
Exactly what I was looking for Scott. Old timers sharing names, times and the fun of what makes MM. Great posts good sir.

Yes, the monthly meetings were a great way for all of us to get out and spend some time. It's tougher now with the "youngsters" having kid but I'm hopeful we might see some this year if the health department allows. :)

I was in the second generation of members - joined between 2001 and 2004 and I only know that because that is when I had my Firehawk. Of course, TrboBuick working at Ramchargers got me coming to the meetings in the first place, but I joined because of the race series the founding guys had set up - I probably never would have raced at Grand bend or St. Thomas if not for that first season. It is amazing that we used to be able to rent Milan for $400 plus the VHT costs. It definitely spoiled me, and now I don't think I ever want to wait three hours in the pits to get two passes all day. Maybe if the track re-opens we can set up a Saturday Morning event again!

Yes, we were really lucky with the racing and Milan and the sponsors made it possible for us to get out and enjoy time together doing what we love. Some day when we all get out... I'll tell you about the 3 bags of IVs I had to have to get to a certain rental. I'm old and not an officer... so I can rat myself out. :)

I've been around a minute or two. It's been so long I can't even remember who was all there at the first official Speedworks meet. Captain Flannel and I started talking about starting the club at the Woodward lot I rented in 99, but I have no idea when the Speedworks meet even was.

A modest ambassador of the past lol. You are too damn responsible these days. :)

10,000+ posts since 2005, I honestly can't remember how I got to this place!

It's been fun and a blast to meet a few of you guys over the years.

Thank you all for putting up with me & allowing me to share in the madness
we call Motown Muscle!

It's been a minute and then some. It's still crazy to me how quickly the years have gone by but those are some great pictures to add for sure. :)

I'm reading all the posts but know there's no way I'd have time to fill in all the great people I met thru MM.. Monday when I'm on the clock I'll post up w detailed thread haha

Step up N"ick". You don't have to name them all. Just a few that creep in to your mind as a responsible adult. :) I'm proud of all of you guys and all the things you do and consider myself lucky to know you all. :)

I think it was Woodward 2007, Al made me get in a shopping cart. Speaking of Al, hope he's doing alright. MM hall of fame, that guy.

I remember driving down to Memphis with Dave ,Dan and Mike to watch Roman and Tanner run in first Pump Gas Drags.

Also the MMM events at the end of Sept every year.

The Drag Series

Fun times.

Where did the 20 years since go.

I wasn't at this Dream Cruise with Motown until the following year but I did chip in on the sign. I wonder if Bob Lutz ever saw it?

I was on here somewhere around that time. I joined under a different name (I think Spclk1981) back in '02, maybe '03 when I was in my "W-body days" and part of MCCGP.

I sold that Prix in '07, didn't get another car until 2012 (was rockin' an '07 Liberty), and re-registered when I was shopping for my current F-Body. Not sure what happened to my original name, I think the forum had a big upgrade or something and dumped it.

Geoff - I met you when you tuned AIR out of my '00 LS1 in 2013. I forget the program you still had functioning (blackcat or something?), it was a precursor to HP tuners.

Joined summer of either 2000 or 2001. Too old to remember, lol! Initially joined to get a parking spot on Woodward, Brian Scott was my initial contact, but I remember many of the original members which have not been around in a looong time! And def remember Detroit Speedworks!

Yes, it was Tuner Cat. I still have that somewhere, although it sports a serial port and the laptop required to run it is on life support running Windows 98. Rumor was that the HP Tuners guys wrote their own tuning code but copied his GUI. Either way - it was better than buying "Credits" for HPT.

I remember the superballs !

lol, not a founding member but been around a while

and for those that want, here is the Pinks episode

Nobody really knows that you bolted that frankenstein LS1 together all by yourself in a parking lot overnight. It friggin blew up 8 hours before that!!! It had so much fuel blow-by the cracked pistons that when joe tried to start it, the crankcase ignited and blew the valve cover o-rings out of the heads. :) Amazing dedication to a group of gearheads.

I need to dig out my old hard drives and find all the pictures an videos that I used to have on my computer. At some point, I stopped transferring them when I updated computers. I still have them somewhere, though, including those old MM videos that Eric (91Bird305) put together.

I have pictures of some of the races but also some that I took at the Hooter's get togethers and other events.

The other story I forgot to mention earlier was Eric (Roadrage) trying to drive his Trans Am through my garage door! :2000-pont

I forgot about that convertible! I do remember the eclipse!

I think everyone here would enjoy participating in a True Street race either NMCA or NMRA if you are driving Ford. It's just as fun as our old travels to Stanton for the M Events. You can camp after the race in the pits or go party at your nearby hotel. Not much else out there with that similar easy going racetrack vibe.
