Thinking about selling my truck on Ebay. Looking for pointers.

I'm thinking about putting my 66' Chevy Pickup on Ebay. I'm ready to build something different. I have sold quite a few car parts on Ebay. I sold my Jeep on there 15 years ago. Anyway I'm looking for some pointers. I'm was wondering if it would be worth it to have professional photo's done. Any other advice anyone could offer would be greatly appreciate it.

LOTS OF PICS, excellent description aloso get a burner phone and let people call you
Google Voice works well. Once you're done, just block the number(s) that were calling you and they get a nice greeting of "The number you're trying to reach has been disconnected" if they try to call again.

I agree with what has been said above. Ive sold probably 20 cars on eBay over the years ranging from $20,000-$125,000. I always include a very detailed description with a lot of photos from all angles, inside, outside, under hood, etc. I always make sure to point out imperfections no matter how minor they may be. List a phone number and be sure to any any questions from potential buyers ASAP.

I too have sold a number of vehicles. I have tried many options
over the years. As crazy as it can get at times, Craigslist is by far
been my best bet.

I believe CL is so frustrating for so many people because they don't
follow a few simple guidelines that can make all the difference - and
sell their car for FREE!

Just as most everyone has stated for Ebay, for a CL ad include;

- Many great photos.
- A great written text.
- Complete contact info, phone # included.
- Post multiple ads in multiple cities.
- Renew (top post) your ads every two days.

Selling face to face, in cash means I have never experienced one
of those "nightmare rip-off car sales".

I sold my '70 Corvette on eBay a few years ago. Like everyone above said, lots of photos (especially pointing out imperfections/rough spots) and a clear, well formatted, description. It seems like half of the ads that I see are paragraphs of run-on sentences formatted such that the important information is impossible to find.

You can do a lot more with formatting on eBay than you can with Craigslist. I sold my GTO on Craigslist and had a hard time getting the ad to post because of their unwritten rules on formatting. For instance, you can't list items with a dash in front. I have no idea why but a formatted list like this was causing my ad to not post.

-insert mod here
-6-speed trans
-eleventy billion horsepower

eBay is the way to go to reach the widest audience for a classic vehicle. If you do post it, let us know and we can help critique your ad.

^^^^ I agree, but there are ways around this to post
a really good ad on CL;

"/// Goodyear Eagle RSA Tires 265 x 60 x 17-- Less than 80 Miles!

Goodyear Eagle RSA 265 x 60 x 17 as new condition!
Tires have less than 80 miles on them - they went from dealership
to tire store for change over. These are "new take offs".

High performance all-season tires. Tires came from a new Police Package Tahoe.

* Speed Rating : V -- 149 MPH
* Load Rating : 2,205 lbs
* Weight : 35.13 lbs
* Size : 29.5 x 10.7 x 29.5 (L x W x H)
* Date Code : 2015

Check the prices on these tires, they run $257.81 each new!

2 for only $245."

You might want to PM Krazybones...... He wants that truck bad

Lol he did seem to really like it when he came by.

Thanks everyone else for the advice. I have sold a lot of daily drivers on craigslist. It seems that my truck would do much better with a broader market.

You could just list lcoally it at the "much better" price that you think it would bring on eBay and see if there are any bites. If not, then go onto eBay.

list it on a 21 day fixed price listing with buy it now or best offer. Set ebay to auto decline offers below your threshold. Also check the box which says"require immediate deposit with buy it now" that way you don't get some tire kicker who clicks buy it now with no intention of buying.

Boyd welding fuel tank with Stealth 340 Pump , Entropy radiator. New wire harness. Lowered in front with 2.5" drop spindles 2" lowering spring- Rear has 4" lowering springs with shock re-locators. Front cross member was swapped out with one from a 1991 2wd suburban all suspension components replaced with moog parts. Front and rear brakes everything is new in the last 1000 miles including brake lines. Tires have less then 2000 miles on them. dual magnaflow exhaust

This is just from the top of my head I know there's a lot more I'm forgetting. Anyway I haven't determined a price yet that why I was thinking about putting it on Ebay and let the market tell me what's it's worth.

When you have a desirable, gorgeous one of a kind like that one,
that really would be a good marketing plan. You'll always have the
option of saying yes or no to the finale price, unless you go "no reserve".
