Most of the ones Ive looked at that I liked were around 800-1100. Im still saving up to by an iPhone. There are days that I sure miss Ford. Mostly payday. :)

iPhone? Apple? Hate Guns, love Clinton, liberal hippie assholes galore Apple?

Dale, Dale, Dale.....

Whats the matter isn't hate Guns, love Clinton, liberal hippie assholes galore Verizon/T-mobile good enough for ya?

:)

Maybe a bake sale, a 2nd amendment bake sale to raise some funds. Dales AR15 Bake Sale, call into Rush, get past snerdly and talk it up on the air, 'bout time for another one anyway.

Take about $125, find a local FFL dealer or go to a gun show and get one part, an AR15 Lower Receiver. It is just a piece of aluminum with a lot of machining and a serial number. Even better if you can buy it privately from another taxpayer, no record for when Guiliani/hillary bans all guns in the 2nd term.

Every other part can be bought over time and assembled at your leisure. Just get the anchor man, get that lower. The assembly is easy, the component choices and possible configurations are VAST, be happy to help you arm up.

Dave (and/or Justin),
If one wanted to do this, what would I need to look for in a lower receiver? Are their brands or options that are better than others?

-Matt

I've never built one from the ground up, so Daves the better person to ask as far as that goes.

But I'd stick to names like Colt, Rock River Arms, DPMS, Armalite, and Bushmaster.

Rock River and Stag are the most common ones, excellent quality, ZERO difference from the others mentioned except price and availability. Performance, component fit and function will be identical. Some to avoid are Sendra and EA (Essential Arms) and cast Olympic Arms.

There are better looking ones also, about twice the @$125 you should pay for a Stag lower. A few places make matched upper/lower combos and others make Billet milled lowers and uppers.

Here is billet;

Others still make custom lowers. Instead of Safe/Semi/Auto you can get Avast/Ahoy/Arrrrrrrgh or other sayings. Custom engraving like "Infidel" or "Molon Labe".

You can also get Left handed AR15's too from Stag. Nice option for you wrongsiders.

This is one of the best guys there is to deal with also;

This is a link to the snob stuff, you want oohhhs and aahhhs at the Black Rifle Convention start here;

That is a quick change barrel, whole upper is a single milled piece.

If I built my dream AR, it would probably be a HK 417. i'll deal with it being righty even though im wrongy handed. It would have a collaspable butt stock, an adjustable cheek pad, a harris bipod, tango down vertical grip with spare bolt assembly, tactical charging handle, sure fire tac light, izlid green beam, pac15 triple laser, sure fire suppressor, ACOG with reflex sight on top, a few beta c mags. and of course a vickers 2 point sling.

but here is mine.

its a flat top m4 with a m68 cqb red dot sight, pac4 ir laser, and a sure fire tac light, with a steel hk magazine in it. and its a colt.

It's just unamerican to not own an Ar-15. Whats wrong with you people.

Too expensive for the college student on the go. I do own a Garand, which in fact makes me more of American than anyone with a slew of AR15s... mine killed nazis.

Well I can't disparage a Garand owner. But maybe think about getting your priorities in line. AR-15 > Annoying College Degree :icon_smil

As true as that may be for the next 10 years. Once I have my degree, I can buy a slew of AR15s to go along with my slew of Garands (and Carbines), making me close to Ted Nugent, Charlie Heston, and Postban as one of the greatest gun owning Americans there has ever been.

Hey do you go to that Rock Climbing place out Jackson? I saw someone out there with a Mini the other day? Was that you?

Naw, I don't rock climb. You can usually see me at the Brighton Gun range though. My mini usually sticks out against the bland colored pickups.

Spend the money on an upper and its goodies in a Ar15...
Lowers are dime a dozen.
The upper assembly is the most important part. Barrels are the most important.
After all I have learned about the black rifle I would never buy a factory build again.
They are a cake walk to build super custom. Joints like Yankee Hill, Larue, Vltor and others are making some super super shit....
Oh and don't for get about Lewis Machine, CY6, DSA & POF....
One of the best lowers on the market is Superior..they make many many lowers for lots of the "Big" builders. Plus they will make you a custom lower also for a few extra bucks..You can find Superior Lower on the net for under a C-note. Put JP trigger in it and yer rocking...
Krieger, Lija, Hart and all the best barrel makes are the best. Wilson's are pretty cool for the money...

Best factory build for the buck..STAG! DPMs Second....
Most Money..Lewis Machine & Wilson....But there's a reason..They are Perfect!!
Best AR15 style & Function..Robinson Arms XCR!!!
Best Glamor rifle...Sig 556!! Comes with NO SIGHTS!!!
Best Collector Ar15..COLT!
Most reliable..The one you Customize!!! with a 1 in 8 twist BBL!

Build one..they are easy just spend your money in the barrel, bolt and upper.
That is if you want a real shooter!:rockwoot:

Depends on the make and serial number, might have been Chinese or North Koreans.
Even if it is WWII it could have only been Japs or Italians

Either way, eight pows and a ping, SALUTE!

I have owned M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, 1903 Springfields and a 1917 Enfield. Kept the 1917, the others went in trades here and there.
