I'm going to post some photos from the L.A. Times. If you want to know what a fire storm looks like, this is it, with 50 MPH winds blowing the burning embers everywhere, making it impossible for the fire department to get ahead of the flames. The buring embers get into the trees and into the roof vents of the homes, and then it's over. The heat was so intense in areas that the fire department had trouble telling the dispatchers where they were, the steel street signs had melted.
