I appreciate everyone's concern- it makes me feel better knowing that there are so many good people on this board.
To address some of the questions and comments, I do have a CPL, and believe it or not, carrying a gun has actually made me think everything through more carefully before acting. I have to say that for the most part, I'm glad I responded the way I did. I would have liked to fuck some people up, but three things went through my head- 1. They were just some stupid kids out drinking and not thinking clearly. I didn't want to have to shoot some 18 year old if I didn't have to (he looked young). 2. I didn't want to get into a shootout with three aggressors- the two in the vehicle could have been armed. My girl would have had no means of escape, other than to duck, so I would have to stick with the vehicle. If homeboy in the back seat had an AK, my chances would not have been not good. 3. We were in a residential neighborhood, so if I were to miss a shot (likely, since I was seated in my truck and under stress), odds were high that I would have been using somone's house as a backstop. While I have absolutely no problem taking a life to defend mine and my loved ones', I couldn't live with hitting someone by mistake as they were watching TV in their living room.
As far as running him over, it was a thought....even more so after I had time to reflect on everything that happened. At that point, I wanted to put as much distance as possible between his boys in the car on my right, and him on my left runing at me as quickly as possible. I actually fucked up by getting too close to them to begin with, but I didn't think that they were actually gonna stop the car and get out. Lesson learned.
Lastly, in response to the "move" suggestions, this is the most fucked up part. While Hazel Park and Ferndale aren't quite Detroit, they are quickly getting there. The area is typically not TOO bad, and I have never had issues. The problem is that the garage is at my Grandmother's house. I don't live there, but I have used her 3.5 car garage as my shop since my early teens. She is most definitely not gonna move (while breathing, anyway), so I'll have to handle whatever comes my way at this point. I won't provoke, but I'll be watching them daily for any signs of retaliation.
