OK, Another "Would You Trade For This?" THREAD... Thanks in advance for your opinion!

Its ok, I did some serious "traction testing" on the road into my place...... How many years can we say we still had our cars out after thanksgiving? Unheard of!!!!! Had to have a last hoorah!!!

Rudy

If you google map it, right next to my parents house you can go 3 gears with no fear, there is no where for them to hide.... I do it allllll the time.

Warren Rd and Morten Taylor in canton. Headed west like you got stopped at the light. Its all privacy fences and 2 sides street ive never seen them sit on.

You can't lose on the GN, but then again I'm biased!!! If that 6765 is a p-trim ball bearing and those GN-1 heads were ported by champion, it will go high 9's. The look of the stance of the car has nothing to do with how fast it is. These cars can be a real PITA to make hook up! I had to go w/ a complete HR 4 link set up w/ anti roll system to make mine hook! Shame I just got mine back on the road!! Remember one thing, that GN will do nothing but go up in value! 22 to 25 mpg in a nice riding comfortable 9 sec G-boy:thumbsup:

I talked to the guy today. He has never taken it down the 1/4 mile, only the 1/8 mile. He claims it went 6.50@105mph, although the MPH sure seems low to me. That converts to about a 10.20 1/4 mile by my math. That's pretty good for a car with no cage and air-conditioning.

Fuel mileage makes no difference at all to me in a car like this, but it is a nice feature I suppose. My Mustang doesn't do bad, though, especially for as fast as it is.

Another thing to consider is when trading for a car you don't know who built it, or how it was built. It could be a hack job, you never truly know. Your car is MINT. Foxbodys are dime a dozen, but yours is not. Your engine bay is a work of art, and you can tell some time was put into it.

If your really pressed for money, sell the car. But I wouldn't trade for a GN. A Mustang isn't really worth much modded, but Grand Nationals aren't special to me personally so there is no way I'd sell or trade your car for that. You will be pissed after the trade/sale. Hell I miss my old V6 Camaro.

Put it this way, I have 3 kids and own a repair shop= no time, so, when I'm out and about the fam is usually with me. For me the GN is very usable. I just sold my 71LT1vette that I had since 88! Loved it, but it was useless to me! It was fun and fast, victor jr everything but it just sat! GN=fast family car,THAAAAT noboby really knows what you have, they pretty much all look and sound alike 9 sec bruiser or 14 sec stocker!!

How far can you go on stock rods and crank in these cars? He said it has a good JE piston, but the crank and rods are stock - they've been shotpeened, and they have some coating on them to make them stronger. I'm not familiar with it, but that's what he told me.

I don't know... Makes me nervous thinking it has stock rods, crank, etc... What do you think? You have one of these cars. How far can this stuff be pushed?

As an addd bonus, when you pull up next to some load obnoxious cut up ride and bust their ass w/ the a/c on:thumbsup: They never see it comming!!

Look on turbobuick.com. There is a guy "grumpy" w/ a fleet of them. His daughter's car runs 9.9's on a 109 w/ caps and a cpt66 single ball bearing turbo. I belive it just has je pistons and stock rods and crank. Tune is everything onthese. I've pushed mine and blew steel shim headgaskets and not broke the bottom end.

Keep the notch, sell the kids and use that money to buy the GN.
Actually, you know what you've done inside & out to the 'stang, can't say that about the Buick. I liked my turbo Buick but the my 'stang is just as fast and handles so much better!

w/ the right rear suspension upgrages the buick will handle like a slot car!!

If I had to guess.... Id say their is double the money in the stang than the GN. It just doesnt look to be the same caliber car- not saying it isnt nice but the notch is a fully custom car-the underside of the floors look to have nicer paint than most cars do up top.

Keep the stang. The 109 blocks are a PITA at that power level. To run 9.90s it would have to be set on 35 psi kill mode.

And Bamford has gone 9.2's with his stock block and a 70 mm turbo.

dan.......keep the notch...

for a gn?......sorry, couldn't do it. maybe a '69-70 gs that ran some 10's. now those are pretty cool.....

Well, there are a billion nothes and hatches, only 20,000 87 and 6000 86 GN's were built. I gotta belive they will be big money down the road!! Also a well built, girdled 109 will go 9's for a long time with the right tune!!! If those are gn1 raceports w/ a bb6765 or 6776 it'll do 9's 28/29psi on pump with a lil meth!!
