My 2016 Chrysler 300S nightmare...

I was leasing a 2014 Chrysler 300S V6 and despite some transmission issues, I loved the car. I decided to get another one when my lease was up and on 11/17 I picked up my new 2016 300S, this time with the V8. The car is absolutely gorgeous in Redline Red!

I bought the car in Woodhaven, which isn't a very convenient location, but their sales manager was great to deal with.

Driving the car home from the dealer, the check engine light came on! I also started noticing that the car was running rough at times. Mainly at idle (which might be normal with the Hemi, I'm not sure) and while maintaining a constant speed. The worst was when driving between 70 and 80mph and then accelerating very lightly. The whole car shakes until you give it more gas. Feels like a stick shift car that is in too high of a gear and you give it gas.

I took the car back to the dealer the very next day and the check engine codes were for a misfire and fuel system running lean. Their remedy was to change a couple of oxygen sensors and the car was ready the next morning.

I picked up the car, and as I was leaving the dealer's lot, the check engine light came back on!

Left it with them the day before Thanksgiving and this time they swapped out the Engine Controle Module.

I picked the car up on Friday and my first impression was that it is running noticeably smoother. I drove it for a day and once again the CEL comes on! Yesterday, at one point the CEL was blinking and beeping! Now in addition to running rough as before, there is also a strong sulfur smell after every time I drive it.

Needless to say, it is going back to the dealer for the third time today. The car currently has 400 miles on it and about a third of those were trips back and forth to the dealership. That alone pisses me off since this is a lease.

Has anyone had a similar experience with a new Chrysler product? Do I have a leg to stand on if I ask the dealer to take this car back or would I have to meet all the lemon law requirements and take Chrysler to court?

The car looks great. I've driven a few and really like them. Hope the dealer and Chrysler take care of you on this!

I would talk to the general manager....and see what they are willing to do. Gotta remember they are charging Chrysler for time and materials spent through warranty, it's an open check book for them to keep fucking with it.

I don't see many of them around. Visually, the only difference from the V6 is the spoiler.

The side sills are different too! :)

Do you have a different dealer that you could try? I bought a CTS once that had a rattle on the rear shelf, 2 trips to my local dealer and it still wasn't right. I tried a different dealer and they fixed it the first time. Not all dealers and techs are created equally. You have a right to be pissed off, but give another crew a shot at fixing it.

I figured that if this car turns out to be a complete lemon and there's any chance of me getting rid of it, I might be better off if I continue working with the dealership that sold it to me.

I do however have one closer to home, which I have been happy with in the past, and that would be my next stop.

They picked up the car from my office a half hour ago and dropped off a loaner. Let's see where this goes from here.

Car should not be driven when the light is blinking. That indicates a misfire and cat damage/fire will occur.
It sounds like maybe the intake is leaking

Start documenting it for lemon law buy back, you're almost there. If they are unable to fix it in four visits or if they have the car over 30 days. I had a nightmare on a Town & Country that intermittently wouldn't start and kept stranding my wife and kids one winter. My advice.... Go to a different dealer. I kept going to the same dealer thinking it would help because they had all the history, and that was my biggest mistake. It's warranty work regardless of the dealership. If you want to keep the car take it somewhere else, if you want to cut your loss and get rid of the car then take it back to the same dealer because they likely won't fix it this time either.

There may be some kind of consumer purchase laws that could help you since you purchased it 11 days ago, but I don't know much about that.

PM me if you want a number of a good lemon law attorney, they will all gladly talk to you and let you know your options.

Mcinerny sucks fucking dirty assholes.

RUN. Service dept is inept at best! I taught them more about my jeep than they will ever know.

Take it to a different dealership. All dealers will be able to access repair/service history that was done under warranty. They can usually see the original complaint/DTC and replaced part.

Seeing as the car immediately had an issue off of the lot on your way home, I am willing to bet that it is a fuel issue. High water or ethanol mix. If the car sat on the lot for an extended amount of time with bad fuel in it, I can see that as a possibility as well.

dline will be in here shortly to tell you that you're the only person ever to have a problem with your 300S and it must be your fault.

Ours had non-stop trans issues, CEL light, strange whistles from underhood, bad alternator, etc, etc.

go to another dealer.

when my girl had an issue with her car using the dealer she bought it from was a nightmare. went to a dealer from a recommendation on here and they fixed it in one shot. If they can't fix it in one visit, they're not worth a second trip back.

i see your in farmington hills, not sure how often your in garden city, but ive delt with suburban on a couple things (at ford and venoy) and they've been very good. its under warrenty so your golden unless your trying to get a buyback or something for lemon law (which like other people said not all dealer service dept are same caliber)

That's not really a fair statement. I have seen some pretty crappy issues that have required a second trip. However, the drivability issue with the OP's car and DTCs should give the tech a great starting point.

If you want to take your car to where I buy all my chryslers, suburban Farmington hills, I will call the service manager direct who is a good friend of mine. I trust him and I'm sure he will help you. Let me know.
