Hi guys and gals. I guess I am wondering if there is anyone on here to lives in Northern michigan and what they think about. Particularly anyone who made the change coming from the Detroit Metro area. I have lived outside a big city all my life, never been a country girl, but I have a possible job. They haven't made me an offer, but I have a second interview by phone on Monday and they have done the background check.
Here's another issue. I love the job I have now. The job is great. I feel competent and confident. I have a one of a kind supervisor, and my coworkers are great. The agency i work for itself has a very good rep in the community. The problem is I get paid very low. When I initially took this job, I took a pay cut, from what I was making at my first job out of grad school. This new job, I would be receiving a 45% pay increase, and get annual raises. I pretty much can't say no because of the money. I can't afford to buy a house and a lot of things I wanted to do in my life with my current salary. Oh, and there are no annual raises or merit raises at my current job. Your salary is locked in. And the way it works is stupid, like this...say I worked there for five years, then another person who worked five years somewhere else comes in, they are going to make more money than me.
Anyways back on topic. Any advice, words of wisdom, words of encouragement. Thanks guys.
