Having worked in local government for many years, I can tell you this;
Mr. Bill Jennings needs to show up at these upcoming Township meetings
to protect his Lapeer Dragway with:
1) Bodies - As many folks as can fit in the meeting hall to support his business.
2) Prepared - Be ready with evidence showing his property rights and the benefits
of his business to the community. Be organized.
I have witnessed first hand how a "group of home owners" can change the face of
the community, simply because they were more "vocal" than anyone else, even the
overwhelming majority.
I understand it may seem wrong to have to fight for your company / rights, but
that is the reality Mr. Jennings is facing.

Worked in a Western Wayne County community from from the 70's to well into the 2000's. Watched new homeowners become the majority and whine about everything, mostly farmers. Too much dust, equipment makes too much noise, busy on weekends when I'm trying to enjoy my yard, the cows smell, tractors go too slow on the roads. When the farmers said "screw it" and sold their property the new homeowners then bitched about the new subdivisions coming in.
There is probably an attorney that regularly appears before the township board representing developers and the like. That's the attorney to hire to see this through. He has already greased the wheels to get his projects through. You just need to pay him for his grease.

- Taes are reduced, citing dragstrip as reason.
So the only reason his property value was "Reduced", was because he asked for it. So the story is pretty misleading. The title should read "Property value gets assessed value lowered using dragstrip as reason".
