Improper lane usage ticket WTF

I got pulled over today leaving work in Canton. There was construction on Ford Rd, west of Sheldon right before Mexican Fiesta if your going east. The right lane ended there. Traffic was backed up to Canton Center or close to it. I could only turn right into the right lane since the left lane was full of cars bumper to bumper. I ended up driving down the right lane till 2 or 3 cars to the end when I finally was able to get over. Cop on a bike flicked me and gave me a improper lane use ticket. Thats all it says on the ticket, nothing else. He said "he's waiting in line sweating" (Oh sooo sorry officer you choose to ride a damn motorcycle) and I wromm by him (I was in 2nd gear cruising at about 20, sure thing buddy). I wanna fight this, I cant afford any more points right now.

Ive looked online and I couldnt really find a definition as to what an improper lane usage mean. Should I try and fight it or just plead guilty with explanation?

That's a tough one. On one hand you're supposed to be getting out of that lane but on the other if they didn't want you in that lane they should have closed it sooner. Not really sure on this one. One of those fringe laws that a cop decided to flex on a bad day.

So what you're saying is you're that guy that drives past everyone else hoping to get ahead of them and squeeze over at the last second to get in line and the cop busted you? Sorry about your luck. Next time pay attention to the sign that states that lane is cutting off and get in line sooner like everyone else.

I don't see how this could be clasified as improper lane use. Even if you didn't just turn right, but decided to cut ahead in the line, it's still not illegal. It might not be courtious towards other drivers, but enforcing manners on the road is not the cops job.

Having said that, I once got a similar ticket and decided to fight it. Its a long story, but I found out in court (from the cop's notes on the ticket) that I almost ran over some guy on a bicycle. WTF? I learned he hard way that it's easy for to get screwed in court when it's the cops word against yours. I'm just lucky it was a traffic ticket and not some major charge that I got suckered into...

Again, where is the line between being an asshole and doing something illegal?

Actually the lane ended before that driveway cause thats where I pulled into when he flicked me.

So basically everyone else was waiting their turn in line and you decided to pass all of them in the right lane and then cut back over.. Be glad the cop didn't pistol whip you!

Go back and take pictures TODAY!!! If you use your phone, make sure to e-mail them to yourself with todays date.

I use to be "that guy" cutting in front of people. Now I'm "that guy" not letting anyone in front, unless it's a hot chick or has a Varsity plate frame :)

n/m... saw the lane was ending due to construction. There's no law that says when/where you have to merge. Ask the officer and judge to tell you what code/law you violated. They got nothing.

FYI, studies have shown that waiting until the last minute, when in heavy traffic, makes the overall flow of traffic go faster.

Good luck............ I once got a ticket for "driving too fast for the road conditions" not speeding because I wasnt....... the judge said that if the officer felt it was too fast it was and it was my word against him

I am reminded of a douche bag in a Pontiac vibe....we're..rotors matrix that weaves through traffic coming up on lane closures ... I was a good half mile ahead and he tried passing me right before it closed his lane so I put my foot on the loud pedal and put him behind my Mustang. He flipped me off the entire construction area. Lmfao
