hellcat challenger unvieled

I watched all the videos on the SRT site. It's amazing all of the electronic features with these modern cars. In dash drag tree, 0-60 recording, horsepower readings, launch control, etc. New interior looks very nice. Everything is a step forward. Boy is the Hellcat heavy though at 4300+. I'm wondering how nice the 8-speed will be? Overall nice car!

Part of that that link reads "in a class by itself"

They for got "weight"

"In a weight class by itself"

Newer cars are heavy, they have much more shit than the oldies. A new CTS-V coupe weighs 4200lb, not far off fro this Challenger.

Yeah but it's going in the wrong direction. The '09 Hemi Challengers were ridiculously heavy at 4100 lbs. The first gen S197 mustang in base (no option) GT trim are "only" about 3450. I know the newer cars have alot more "stuff", (most of which I would delete from the order form if I could) but you'd think with a base price of $61,000 they'd have some light weight technology in them as well.

Whoa had no idea the hellcat had a beer gut... that's heavy.
Had been seeing some of what I believed were those driving around my area in camo a month or so ago...

Damn that fucker is sexy...

When we were impact testing the Challengers back in the 2007/2008 timeframe, our test weight was 4175lbs. for v8 vehicles. They are tanks.

The new Mustang will whoop its ass all day long lighter and the GT500 has not been unveiled yet room has it at 750hp Turbo 5.0 !

Why is it that Ford is the only one that can make a supercharged engine actually look good? It isn't like Ford's method of blower on top, intercooler in the valley is losing them any power over the GM and now Chrysler method of blower in the valley with the intercooler on top. The GM and Chrysler way is lame looking. Ford wins in this area so unquestionably hands down that it blows my mind that they are the only one that gets it right.

Well a 15 challenger rt will be a 12 sec car with 370hp and an 8 speed auto hmm less power and more weight than the competition

A 15 challenger srt 6.4 will be a low 12sec car with 475hp

Sure seems to move that weight just fine

I can't see how the eight speed is going to take a whole second out of the car going from the five speed. I have yet to ever see a stock Challenger RT do better than very high 13s. Don't get me wrong, I really like the Challenger, just think the size and weight has been detrimental.

The more I think about this car the more I think it could be a real drag strip brawler. Cts-v of similar weight, gets down the track mid 12's stock and 11's with tire and tune. HellCat has 600+ and that 8-speed. I'm guessing 11.7 stock tires. There I said it.

I bet you're pretty close. Assuming it is a very well-prepped track.
