Posting this for my buddy, he has owned it since 2008 or 2009 and it had like 4,000 miles on it. Currently has 32,000ish miles on it.

Michigan made.

Has a California top, but needs to be adjusted a bit, something binds. Haven't had a chance to look at it for my buddy. A.c. is ice cold. New tires. Fresh tune up. New belts. K@N air filter. Synthetic oil. Fun and cool car that gets looks all the time.

Only thing wrong, is a broken glove box door.

Car is in great condition. Hub caps suck, we all know this. He had standard VW caps, but they rusted and he hasn't had time to go grab a new set.

Also, new Alpine stereo.

Asking $7000 OBO .located in Warren

You could not legally import them due to FMVSS regulations, but many came across the border in pieces and were "assembled" in the states, usually on an older pan to keep the donor vehicle's registration (VIN is stamped onto the floor pan under the back seat). A friend of mine has a 2001 VW Beetle body and interior from Mexico which was assembled onto a 1974 pan and is registered in Michigan as a 1974 Beetle. It is a neat car: drives like an old VW but with smoother power (port fuel injection) and is completely new (rather than a car which has been rebuilt several times, like my 1971 Super Beetle with 366k miles).

I remember seeing this car many years ago at a VW event. The top is neat as it rolls back!

yeah, he hits alot of VW events with it....he loves that thing. More pics coming soon for those interested...

I'm curious, did he by chance buy this from a guy in the Lansing area??
