What are these worth. Thinking about it but not sure I will love it. Guy is asking 5500 for it

1984 Mustang SVO
Owned by Ford Motor Company engineer since 2004; Recently moved to AZ. Originally a San Jose CA car. Since I purchased this car 13 years ago I’ve only had the opportunity to but a few miles on it; I immediately painted it and then after spending more than I should have on the paint I was hesitant to drive it. Before my move to AZ I freshened the entire car with plans on driving it daily which included an engine rebuild, changing to a front mount intercooler (more efficient), adding a manual boost controller and numerous other upgrades. I drove it daily for several months once I arrived to AZ but the stop and go traffic that I was not accustomed to made me lazy and purchase and automatic to lessen the 1 hour commute. I haven’t had the chance to enjoy the car so checking interest.

Rebuilt engine with ~1500 miles on it, 94,000 miles on body.
Show quality paint job about 4000 miles ago by shop in Michigan known for painting Fox bodies.

Few tasteful upgrades:
Polished SVO rims
Full length subframe connectors
Maximum Motorsports steering shaft
Front mount intercooler
Tinted windows
Steeda Tri-ax Shifter
4.10 ring and pinion
New clutch/TO bearing/Flywheel
Aluminum radiator
3G alternator upgrade

Have many SVO specific spares that go with the car
SVO/93 Cobra rear tail lights
Low mileage front control arms (incredibly difficult to find)
Leather horn pad and parking brake
Spare camshaft
SVO turbo intercooler
Turbo Coupe intercooler
Exhaust manifold
Dash pad

No A/C or heat
Driver's seat has typical SVO bolster split

Riche, are you going to buy it? I ask because a fellow on my gun forum is looking for that kind of car at that price point. I don't want to mention it to him if it's going to undermine your efforts.

If not can you pm me the link Sir.

Thanks
George

There are local (Michigan) SVO's in similar condition going for similar prices.
I'd say that if in decent shape when you look at it in person, the cost is not really that bad.

I'm curious about a local Michigan shop known for painting fox body Mustangs though?
Wouldn't a shop get good at painting them since there were so many of them, and probably many have been hit or banged up?
That's a strange thing to bring up.

Don't know the car but apparently there's very little stop and go traffic in MI............

A few things come to mind….

- That looks like a Michigan license plate on that car in Arizona.
- The under the hood rust is quite pronounced.
- “No ac & heat” – both would have to be added for me.
- Price is reasonable.
- I remember driving those when they were new – I loved them!

Are you talking about the rust on the top plates on the shock towers. If so, every one of those rusts like hell...the coating on them was almost non-existent. The rest looks pretty good to me...but maybe I'm missing something?

I just confirmed that it is the car that I thought. I've known Marco for years and have seen the car a number of times when he had it out. He moved to AZ a year or so ago (as stated in the ad) so that's why the photo has MI plates. The car is as described. Call him and go see it.

Yes that is him. Talked to him yesterday. Car does sound and look pretty nice from the pics. Just not sure if i want an svo, 200hp in a fox doesn't sound like a lot of fun.

If you get it, just don't yank the 2.3L and swap in something with more cylinders. The SVO is pretty special, and to do such a thing makes it just like the others out there. There are lots of Ford 2.3L turbo cars out there running 9's and faster if you're looking to make a rocket ship out of it.

They are a lot of fun to drive. Light, high power, with the boost valve it's a terror. 34 psi makes a monster
