For Shaun ---- stock LS1 vs stock 2011 5.0

how many "variations" have we seen just in this thread about a "stock" LS1...long tubes, full exhaust, tune, CAI, gears, DR's,

his is the closest you can get to stock..other then 100% factory...and good luck finding a factory car 10 years later

i think I have a better chance of hitting the powerball, curing cancer and being elected president than finding a 100% factory stock LS ANYTHING!

Over the wekend I ran a 2002 LS1 with Long tubes, no cats 3" exhaust, single bullet style muffler, CAI, pullies and guess what.......

Guys with cars setup similar to that were running 11.5's in their LS1's @ 115 mph back in the day (Does Black Sunshine still post?) Even guys like Bob Cosby were doing the same with their 'weak ass' 32V Cobras back then!

Here's a video of my 2002 Z28 running 13.06 @ 107.9 with just 3,000 miles on the clock.

2.73 automatic - It did have a lid/catback on it. Still had both cats and the factory flattened out Y-pipe though. Barely got out of second gear by the time it hit the traps.

If by similar you mean that + weight loss with stall converters and suspension, then yes

why is everyone arguing about this race... and then why is everyone trying to reproduce the race... FROM A DEAD STOP... those guys did a roll race.... and im guessing that the gearing in the 5.0 is not quite as good as the 4th gen and it would also matter Stick or auto for both... as im guessing the 5.0 looked Auto you cant really see the thing shifting like a manual driver ... unless hes like the perfect shifter double clutching brian spilner fast and the furious driver

Sorry... A 98 convertible automatic with 2.73 gears... THAT would be a slug bitch!
I've seen a bone stock '98 A4 WS6 run 13.0~13.1's consistently at Stanton. Think even one pass, he hit a 12.9x. '98s weren't slow. Car to car variation exists naturally, not to mention the difference in maintenance & driving habits of the owners. When the sum of all the parts are working correctly, it's very possible that stock LS1 f-bodies could put down 31x~32x at the tire. Combine that with a 3300lb chassis and it's very possible that one could hang with a new 5.0. However, these were the gems whereas the averages of the general population were more in the 13.3~13.5 second ET range assuming you have a reasonably decent driver.

So waitaminnit here...I can take down a stock LS1, which can take down a 5.0, and I've taken down a stock LS1, but my car supposedly can't take down a 5.0?

:mmm:
