Do you have DTE for energy at your home?

It's digital and it was changed two months ago. How do I use the app and the meter together?

Dennis
Just download the app and login like you would to the dte website. bam.

Tried using the power scan but the 5c is not supported and the 4 is? I'll try using an older phone to get it to work.

A lot of this has to do with the location of the magnetometer in the phone, power scan is also not supported on android (yes im butthurt about it too).

Wow i'm surprised, I've got a TOD Rate smart meter and apparently its not compatible? I know you said Oakland County just figured I might get lucky LOL

Otherwise totally dig the premise and consumption check is pretty awesome!
Sorry man! Maybe in the future?

Looks like a smart meter to me.

But will our costs go down if we switch to the new smart meter since they no longer have to pay someone to read them? Nope. All it does it help them out.

dte has to pay for the meters, for people to install them. as of curresnt date we are losing money on the smart meter program. dte savings wont be realized for years at best. being able to remotely shut them on and off.saves the consumer from having to wait around for a service person to show up for on's and off's. so there is a benefit to the consumer right there. so "all it does is help them out" isnt true at all. but thanks for playing.

the comsumer can also monitor useage and adjust accordingly, as with the app presented here.

How accurate is the app? Seems like it might be off. We don't change the routine much but the usage is pretty different from day to day. Last week I had two 77 kw days, a 4 kw, 15 kw and 30 kw.

The meter data is delayed by two days (unless you have an energy bridge - request one in-app). The data comes straight from dte, we do not alter it at all. If you feel it is inaccurate, thats a problem with you and dte lol. I would say from my testing it's accurate.

How accurate is the cord-o-meter ;) I have a very thin leather case on my phone so I'm not sure if that affects it or not; still really cool and nicely built app!

You need to remove the case, the code compensates for thickness of the phone and the cord. And I think it was tested to 95% accuracy.

What's the backend architecture look like? :)

Front ends are so 1999... (can you tell what I do for work?)
