Not sure I understand the statement about a level of trust around here. Any shmo can join this board. The reason that a post threshold should be enacted is precisely because of the least common denominator/low threshold for joining this board. Are you saying that out of 6000 members of this board (not club members, registered members) you trust each of the 6000? Best of luck with that.
The post threshold will increase the level of trust (not eliminate it completely, there are always idiots). It is common on other boards I frequent. It is a painless means to ensure that one hit wonders don't sell on this board.
I say we put it up for a vote for paying members to decide. 100 post threshold or not to post items in for sale sections.
I don't know what is so hard to understand about what I said. I said that we shouldn't dumb ourselves down to the lowest common denominator. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything from these people. If there is something you feel is wrong with what is for sale by an individual, then select the 'Report Post' button and a mod wil be on it before you can log off. It will be taken care of right away.
Well, even though there are 6000 members, 90% do not post on this forum. Unlike you, most of the members are local people, so if you think you've been taken on something, someone on this board probably knows the person, or how to get a hold of them.
To answer your question, YES, I DO trust just about everyone, until they give me a real reason not to. Someone from this board needed to borrow a trailer during the summer and I let him use mine for a week. I didn't know him from Adam, but I trusted him.
I'd like you to give me some valid reasoning why I shouldn't trust people, or believe in them. Then give me better reasoning why *you* should be trusted. Where do you draw the line? I don't know you, but I'd trust you because I have no reason not to. If you needed something I have, I'd let you use it.
Minimum Post Counts may be common on the boards you frequent, but the ones I belong to don't have a minimum post count. Normally the boards, like this one, or Vintage-Mustangs.com are self policing.
If you want a minimum post count, then don't go halfway by making it 100, go all the way and make it 1000. The same goes for paid membership, make it at least a year, or better yet, make it 2 years. This way everyone will know who you are.
100 posts takes quite a while to obtain. Quite a few people are lurkers and just like to read......
Just my .02..........Gary
