American Axle strike....

They're going back to the table this week! About frickin' time!

Also, Fort Wayne is starting up making pickups this week. GM is not commenting on where they are getting parts. They are idling the SUV plant in Arlington, so the Mexican axle plant must be kicking it up a notch and shipping to Indiana. Oshawa is supposed to start up soon too.

This has to be running havoc on shipping lanes. These lanes are bid out to specific specs. GM is paying a pretty penny to run these lanes out of spec.

AA is paying it. GM will only pay if AA goes bankrupt or something similar. The axles from Mexico are WAY cheaper to make too, so that will offset some of the shipping.

The Wixom Plant?
Closed.
Revamping it and Ford will reopen it
Hiring ONLY new employee's.
They fall under the NEW contract, meaning that they top out at $18/hour.

The days of working on the line and retiring in 30 are long long gone.

I heard Mexico can produce 2400 per day. It is a far cry from the 8,000 or so GM needs to build the fulls size pickups and SUV's, but it is enough for them to build the critical vehicles. I also heard that more stuff is heading down to Mexico this week.

Hope the UAW and AA come up with something soon!
