99 GRAND PRIX SCANDAL BREAKTHROUGH

I have a 98 GP with 190k on it, the car has had some issues but overall very reliable.

Only 92k on a 3800v6 which I have known 4 people with the same motor making it way above 165k miles without this..

Since when is it bad to see if the car has pick-up? Don't make it seem like it was anything more.

well took another look at the lot, and there is a crown vic 2003 with 90k for 5000$

or a 99 buick regal, same engine, with 90k for 5000$ (WAY over kbb...could prob. talk him down a lot)

so maybe thinking of just throwing down some extra cash instead of an engine swap.
if the engine went at 90k, that means the car was driven way to rough, which prolly means the trans is about to follow..

rather just start fresh with a new car

That or the car really has closer to 200,000 miles on it. The fee is about $250 to get the miles rolled back. You might be surprised how many dealers do this..

I go with the Vic. I've had a couple and I own a Grand Marq. All of them have gone over 100k with no issue.

Let's be alittle more specific. Some B-lot dealers. You would be hard pressed to find a franchise dealer doing it. It's not worth it to them.

So wait........

You're going to buy ANOTHER car from this same dealer? Wow.

its either they go in half putting in a new motor for the grand prix..
or they give me store credit and i get a different car.

i'd rather put my money into a fresh car.

i'd say thats much better than the alternative. and i think
im going for the Vic. good gas mileage surprisingly

Only B-lots?

Ok, it was 1981, I traded in a 1977 GMC with a broken speedo.
I signed the mileage statement (I was not the first owner).
It showed 21,xxx miles not original.

A week later I stopped in at the dealership with some friends
because we saw my old truck sitting on the front row of the
used cars. As we walked towards the truck, another salesman
was also walking towards us & met us at the truck.
Before I could say a word, he slapped it on the fender & said
" Yep, shes a clean one owner with only 21,000 original miles".
Yes they had fixed the speedo.

This was Hamilton Chevy at 14 mile & mound.

Isn't that the type of of dealer he is working with?

It also could have been rolled back before it ever got to the dealer.. This is another reason why I would be reluctant to purchase a previously leased vehicle.

Obviously legit shops like Varsity have no interest or need to cheat the system.

iii know, right?

kinda bummed out about the whole situation, but if that crown vic checks out at the mechanic today, i would mind it. v8 fa shoooo

fox body's have ALWAYS been my mustang favorite, and now notch-backs are slowly becoming my number #1. i would love to own one in the future.

maybe just turn around and the vic and get a mustang instead...hmmm

It's about customer service and doing the right thing. Thats what it's about. I would understand if maybe the car died a week or maybe a month later, but 2 hours? Really? Thats horrible. And ya they don't have to do anything, but if they don't want a bad and shady name from me after I get done with them, then they better do their best to make this right.

 no offense but the lot is pretty much on Greenfield and Joy Road. I highly doubt they are too concerned with being considered shady. Their location alone is pretty much a huge red flag that they are most likely a shady low budget opration.

go to the junk yard find one of the thousands of pontiacs and pull the whole cradle out then just put the whole thing in yours it's really a fairly easy job if they are willing to pay half of the engine cost just do the swap yourself. then sell that pontiac and buy that mustang

I just checked the VIN, the car is pretty clean. It had a half shaft at 22,000 and some seat repairs. Dead battery at at 36,000. Other than that, nothing really stands out.
