94 Mustang Project

Ok So I started mocking the seat up for install. Alot of this shit I'm just doing I've never done it before so I'm learning as I go!

Decided to throw some 2x4's under the seat to see how the height would be after sitting in it it felt like a real good starting point and with the adjustable brackets they have plenty of room to move around. My head wasn't to high and I could see over the gigantic 6" cowl.

Once I got it in position I used a transfer punch that was the same size as the holes and gave myself some spots for my drill points. I put a scale on these and checked a few different points on the seat to make sure I was as even as possible on both sides and all 4 holes.

Here the Bracket is mounted I'll have pics of it in the car on Saturday and Probably start mocking up the steering wheel as well.

Ok So I actually got a decent amount done today.

Seat got mounted!I did end up lowering it to the lower hole on the bracket. After sitting in it for a good 20 minutes making sure I could reach where my switches will be and pretending to shift.... I didn't really do that.... I took a picture.

I had to cut the Tube for the Column to the length i wanted I ended up cutting off about 4 inches. And pressed the Vinyl bushing in.

Then I started to mock up the lightweight steering linkage. It was way lighter then the stock one but I did have to cut one section to length.

Transferred the hole after cutting it to length. I was real careful to get the hole a little smaller I'd rather have it a little tight then too sloppy.

Here the Linkage is all hooked up I didn't tighten it completely I'm going to have to pull it off again once i finish the second tube for the steering column.

I still have to cut the 1/2 tube to length And possibly get a washer to weld onto the tube. I don't want the weld rubbing on the vinyl bushing and if I push part of the strange quick disconnect hub into the vinyl bushing it sticks. I don't really want the only thing holding the steering wheel up is the linkage. I might have to send an email over to racecraft and see what they usually do with this setup.

Hoping I can finish it up tomorrow or be close anyways.

Well I decided to run with the idea of welding a small washer onto the tube. I got it fairly snug so there isn't any play in the steering wheel forward and back. It's finished besides tearing it all apart for paint. I probably didnt even need it on there it was really snug with just the steering linkage. But I feel better with it on.

Ok Painted the steering column and its back installed in the car. probably a few more things I can get done before winter Need to make a piece of aluminm to cover the hole in the dash where the column comes threw as well as make one that goes from the dash to the trans tunnel.

Work has been slow and I got into archery a bit so that hurt the car fund :( I will be back at it soon here I never work on it much in winter anyways no heat in the garage mostly just gather parts. Work is picking back up :) hoping this summer to get the fuel system finished, Get my spoiler and parachute mounts finished and finish up the interior. Then all I have left pretty much is finishing the motor.

Can't help myself I kept telling one of the friends I shoot with no constantly then he bought an extra bow so I went and shot a couple times with him... I've been threw 2 bows already and going to be shooting in a few IBO competitions come spring/summer. Shooting in a couple leagues now on sundays its a fun distraction.

It's a good challenge and a lot of fun. Here is the current bow ;) It only hurts when I look at it like the bow is pretty much my parachute setup and probably my shifter :( I'll be back to the car soon here still a bunch of small stuff I can do come spring time.
