93 Nissan 240sx LS1/T56/Backhalf... Turbo in progress.

bad ass, tryin to convince a guy at work to do this with the 240 he has... the motor is on the way out and is begging for this type of swap

Thanks! I rebuilt the rearend over the weekend, dropped it down to a 3.55 and replaced all the bearings. My axle bearing had a horrible howl that made the car uncomfortable to drive so I replaced them with Timken Set20.

Just a few small parts and its off to the dyno next week :)

Well guys I finally got her on the dyno. Ryne at Cunningham Motorsports here in Murietta,CA had a tough time tuning this thing. First we couldn't get comm with the PCM, then he couldnt get the injectors under 3ms, then it was breaking up going into boost. Got most of it situated and finally got a full pull out of it. Baseline with 13 deg of timing at 10 PSI it made 557hp. She still has plenty left.

The right rear tire also let go on the last pull. I was sitting in the waiting room and heard a big BOOM. I walked over to the car thinking it blew the bottom end out. The tire ended up blowing apart and shot a 5ft long piece of tread about 20ft away from the car. It took out the lower rocker panel, scratched the side and rear of the car up. I'm just thankful it didnt blow on the road. It should be done tomorrow and I'm guessing it will make around 580 on his low reading eddys current dyno.

Wow, that ain't right with the tire. Like you said, good thing it wasn't on the road. Congrats on getting it done!

Yeah I'm pretty upset, I dont like body work at all. Hopefully I can score some JDM rear valences to just cover them up. I also picked the car up today... Holy shit this thing flys! New videos soon!

looks sweet alex. congrats. im gonna be the first to say though that the 55 dollar bfgs probably arent rated for the speed or the heat that they were getting on the dyno

Thought I'd update this since I haven't been on here in a while. I dropped 2 cylinders with the stock bottom LS1 so I decided to scrap the whole thing and build something new. Bigger and better.

New build - 370ci 6.0L Iron block, 4.030" Bore, Wiseco -11cc pistons, Callies Compstar rods, full ARP studs and bigger turbo. I got the block back a few weeks ago, decked, bored, line honed, washed and cleaned. Also just bought a nice set of ET Performance 11 degree heads.

A few pictures of the new build. I am chopping the core support to tilt the radiator forward so I can run FAL dual puller fans. The 2.5" cross over didn't allow puller because of the tight space. I chopped off the T4 flange and was actually able to mount the T6 GT4788 right up. its getting finished welded and then it will be on to the 4" downpipe. Once that is complete, the whole thing is being tore down so I can fix all the rust, weld all the unused holes and do a slight engine bay shave/paint. Then the new 370 will go in and then final assembly.

Badass build! Awesome fabrication, impressive to see someone do everything themselves like this.

Do you think that turbo will be enough though? Where'd you find it, off of a Merkur in a scrapyard?

Thanks, yes that turbo is more than enough? Its a Garrett GT4788.. 1200hp capable and far from anything you'll find in a junkyard.

Benk! What's up bro!? Corps is treating me good, it is what you make it! I definitely have a bright future in front of me. What are you driving nowaday?
