84 Mustang wheel size

I'm building an 84 GT drag car. Stock width 8.8, with Eibach drag springs I'm looking for advice on tire and wheel sizes for the rear. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

15 by 10 inch rim with 6.5 inch back spacing roll your lip beat up your inner wheel wells and rin a 28 by 10 w.

Kinda all depends on what you wanna do... Is there a class your thinking about running with a tire restriction? Do you wanna know how big you can go or what?

My intent is to run a bracket class at NRP. So most likely slicks not drag radials. I just wanted to know what tire/and or wheel combo will fit with a stock length rear.

As started 10" with 6.5 backspace is biggest. 8" with 5.5 is most common. either will hold a 28 10 slick without much more than the common beating mods to teh wheel well and rolled fender lip. BTW the 10" inch rim makes a huge asthetic improvement!
Edit: here is my car with a 10" 6.5 backspace rim and 27X11.50 hoosier QTP, and before i centered the rear in tje car. It tucks a little more than the pic shows now.

Yeah something i thought i'd never see! Like you always said...dollar for dollar, can't make a chevy run this fast! Specially on a high mile as ford built it short block...lol

much better with the 10" rim. it hooks great on motor with no burn out at 13 pounds with the T brake. but this car is a slug on motor. haven't tried it on spray yet from a stop but it hooks up great on a 10 roll sprayin 175. might try the T brake on hose this year...i've always wondered if it would hook. but at milan even on crappy track prep it hooks everytime on spray. never had to abort or pedal in 5 years and it's been 1.40 60'

That does sound like a good idea............................................

It's a good idea....all his stuff is nice and what he says it is... and those rims fit good!(i've seen them on his car...)

Mitch, i was as anti mustang as anyone got back then....now with what i have and what i know there is no way even with the 48 more cubes of a chevy motor could i have taken a 480 lift cam and a head with 1.9in & 1.54ex valves and go 10.3X on a stock short block. Although i'd still rather have a G body car!
