Where are the Stafford haters now to talk shit after that drive and those throws?

Mediocre to average, right?

I missed most of the beginning of the season from being out of town. Have gone to the last three games. Too bad they started weak. Team looks pretty decent now for as banged up as they are. Stafford has played great overall. Today he made his second really bad throw that I've seen this year, but he was a beast when it counted.

Glad to see Mr. Stafford's hard work being recognized nationally.

Matthew Stafford turning himself into an MVP candidate

DETROIT – Matthew Stafford jumped high in the air, his arms raised. Then he ran off the field, pumping his fist hard as he headed toward the sideline.

He had done it again, pulled the Detroit Lions from the depths of a likely defeat. This has been the way Stafford has played all season, the way Stafford’s career has been described, but it's never been like this.

Stafford had already shown vast improvement this season and lifted himself into the discussion as one of the top quarterbacks in the league. But Sunday he did something else in a come-from-behind 20-17 Lions win over Washington: He made himself into a legitimate MVP candidate.

The Lions would be close to nowhere without Stafford, who has led them from from behind in all four of Detroit’s victories this season. While the first three
ended with a game-winning field goal from Matt Prater, this one had a higher degree of difficulty.

Matthew Stafford completed 18 of 29 passes, including one for the game-winning touchdown in the final minute. Tim Fuller/USA TODAY Sports
Stafford needed a touchdown to win. No problem. He drove Detroit down the field in six plays, taking up 75 yards, using 49 of the 65 seconds left on the clock for the game-winning score. He pulled it off with his arm, finding Marvin Jones, Andre Roberts and Anquan Boldin for big gains. He used his feet, scrambling for 14 yards and lowering his shoulder to try and pick up one or two more.

He finished Sunday having completed 18 of 29 passes for 266 yards and a touchdown, and he ran twice for 32 yards. He completed passes to six different receivers, having targeted seven. He spread the ball around, continually searching for the open man and buying time with his feet whenever the option wasn’t immediately there.

This was the Stafford the Lions have seen all year long, the guy who has never stops believing his team can win. Who has no problem essentially pulling his offense along with him for the ride, getting everybody involved and coming up with clutch plays time and again.

The end of the game often has been when Stafford is at his best, but Sunday proved to have a different level to it. This was Stafford’s 100th game as an NFL quarterback and his 24th game-winning drive in the fourth quarter or overtime.

So for a quarter of the games he’s played in – and he hasn’t always been on winning teams – he’s led the Lions to wins where he has had to do something in the final quarter of the game to pick up a win.

The attention on him, though, has become greater now. He’s been a consistent presence for the Lions. Gone are many of the mistakes he’s made in the past. In its place is an efficient quarterback making good decisions over and over again

And this is turning Stafford into one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL.

right here! :headbang:
as 950am just said... "He's playing for his last year contract"
I wouldn't stroke his dick too hard... your expected to win when your playing at home... lets see how he does on the road when he has 40,000 people screaming at him not with him.... we'll see if all the 4th quarter come backs get them to a Superbowl.... doubting it

You saw the part about them ranking dead last in several defensive categories, right? Like worst in the entire NFL?

So, if they don't manage to make it all the way to the SuperBowl it will be another reason to doubt/blame Stafford, right? That's the logic you're using...? Rather than blame the defense... right?

Must be tough for you guys as fans. First suffering through that Barry Sanders era, who was just an average running back who only won one playoff game and now this average QB situation...

That fits with your line of thinking, right? Barry was mediocre to average and just ran up his stats in losing efforts....

Says the guys who was dead quiet during the three game losing streak.

Yes. Zero playoff wins. ZERO. Get back to us when they win a playoff game.

Yes the Lions have strung together 3 wins and Stafford has looked good. Whoop de fucking doo.

When Emmitt lays it head down at night.... He knows Barry was better.

X2. Let's see if they're still playing in late January.

You must have missed the Packers game, GB did him a favor by not catching about 4 sure INTs that he threw right into their hands.

And again, I will ask... do you rate Barry Sanders as average because he only won one playoff game? Just a guy who racked up big stats, but couldn't do anything when it mattered? Do you hold that against Barry? Because the rest of the football world doesn't. It seems to be the litmus test for you guys and nobody else

And with Detroit ranking 26th in the league in total defense... I'm sure any lack of playoff success will be Stafford's fault, right?

Some news from the past few days

Clearly he's mediocre to average with things like this. Let this sink in. Ahead of Montana, Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger, Marino, Brees, Young, Favre, Rodgers, etc etc

Really really let it sink in.

Let this sink in.

Montana (4x) Super Bowl Champ
Brady (4x) Super Bowl Champ
Manning (2x) Super Bowl Champ
Roethlisberger (2x) Super Bowl Champ
Marino (1x) AFC Champ
Brees (1x) Super Bowl Champ
Young (3X) Super Bowl Champ
Favre (1x) Super Bowl Champ
Rodgers (1x) Super Bowl Champ
Stafford 0-2 in the post season

Really really let it sink in.

QB's are always judged by their Championships. Nobody remembers the guys who throw up big numbers in meaningless games. Like it or not, that's the way it is....

correct marino could have been one of the greatest but no ring and hes just another QB

You guys are definitely not giving enough credit to the Lions for their astonishingly bad team building over the years. Saying Stafford hasn't won any playoff games would mean a lot more if he were QB of a franchise that hadn't persistently fucked up the team for 60 years.
